Although M-A-C has worked with many true divas, Marilyn Monroe has got to be the most enduring of all. Although the collection is limited edition, the Marilyn Monroe Collection, channels the legend’s lustre and sex appeal in shades and formulas meticulously Marilyn. Lipsticks in rapturous reds, gleaming Dazzleglass, a dramatic 35 Lash, False Lashes Extreme Black and Eye Shadows in shimmering metallic and diamond tones provide silver-screen allure. The finishing touch: Nail Lacquers destined to be a girl’s best friend and Beauty Powder to evoke that flawless Forever Marilyn. The black and white photos that adorn the beauty shot and the various pots and compacts are a nice contrast to the colors within. And the colours are, like Marilyn, a melange of “hot” and “cool,” vampy and “vulnerable”
As you can tell from the photos of the entire collection, above, the compacts are going to make collectors absolutely drool, with Marilyn’s black and white photo on the outer cartons of some of the items such as the eye shadows and lipsticks, and the same image screened onto the actual containers. These special edition eye shadows are the more generously sized variety, too.
I didn’t really get a chance to personally test many of the colors or products, but since they’re M-A-C- you probably already are familiar with most of them. If I were you, I’d go to your favorite M-A-C Boutique or makeup counters (or barring that, order online) and stock up for holiday gift giving. Who wouldn’t want something from M-A-C with glamorous Ms. Monroe on it? They’re glamorous, and fun.
For the “single ladies” imagine going into the ladies room while in the “meet market” and swiping a Marilyn Monroe collection lipstick on your lips. As you look in the mirror, Marilyn reminds you to step up and be a star, even if your confidence and spirits are lagging after too many bad pickup lines flung from bar stools or club banquettes.
