Some of the makeup looks I’ve seen lately are just plain outrageous. But that doesn’t mean that as the seasons change, you shouldn’t try something new. The makeup in this story will make your look relevant to today’s more informal lifestyle, without totally overdoing it. No need to be fearful. A few subtle changes can make a big difference!
FANtastic Phytomer CC Creme
Yes, you already know that advicesisters.com is a fan of Phytomer’s natural and inspired luxury products. We know, as you probably do, that there are still some people who still simply refuse to wear sunblock on a daily basis. Phytomer’s beautifying skin-perfecting CC Creme has a modest amount of SPF 20 to make it more safely through the day while blurring imperfections and adding good for your skin benefits.
The actives are 5.99% Octinoxate, 2% Octisalate, and 5.34% Titanium Dioxide. There’s a light to medium and a medium to dark which you can see in my photo. However, keep in mind that CC creams are sheer and I didn’t smooth this into my hand, so these two colors will work for all but the very deepest skin tones.
Although there are only two tones, the sheer pigments and soft-focus powders make your skin look better than bare (and safer, too). Now that most people are forced to wear masks wearing a heavy foundation that can transfer off your face onto the mask isn’t the best choice. However, there’s more in these tubes including Phytomer’s Visible Marine Refiner, or VMR that helps to retexturize rough skin.
There’s also Dictyopteris oil that can help reduce dark spots, and of course UVA and UVB filters for broad-spectrum skin protection. While the SPF 20 isn’t huge, it’s at least a way to get beauty, skincare and sun protection all in one in a pleasant, non-sticky cream. We will tell all about Phytomer’s Algodéfense SPF 20 Multi-Protection Wrinkle Cream in another story but the CC cream is perfect for today. Visit phytomerusa.com
Mineral Fusion Lip Glosses
Mineral Fusion is one of those brands advicesisters.com really liked, but we fell out of touch. The natural makeup line has user-friendly, flattering cosmetics that are never tested on animals, and are free of Gluten, Parabens, Artificial Colors, Fragrances, and Talc. As with a lot of mineral makeup of good quality, Mineral Fusion products will be satisfying even for those with sensitive skin and skin issues. The cosmetics have natural minerals, of course, but also (depending upon the product), good for your skin ingredients.
Now that advicesisters.com has reconnected we are delighted to showcase their new lip glosses and lip pencils. The new Hydro-Shine Lip Glosses are inspired by places we wish you could travel to right now. The Hydro-Shine Lip Glosses are available in 13 shades, from clear to light all the way to a bright bold red called “Florence.”

Santorini-clear, Paris-sheer natural, Florence -deep peach, Sedona “metallic warn ginger,(not shown “Bermuda” (light peach). Pencils Grateful and Burnish
All of Mineral Fusion’s Hydro-Shine Lip Glosses are 100% vegan, paraben-free, and cruelty-free. They will flatter just about any skintone. While you’re dreaming of where you’ll go next, you can be happy knowing that your lips are being transported to glam with a lip gloss infused with Vitamin E. There is enough color to look like you made an effort, but the non-sticky gloss won’t smudge so noticeably on your face mask if you are still wearing one. t
These Mineral Fusion glam glosses are just $15 and are just right for our more relaxed makeup lifestyle today. Visit mineralfusion.com and Amazon.com and some mass-market retailers, and Whole Foods Markets.
Lottie London’s Oil Slicks
Lip glosses that offer shine are always makeup must-haves, but for today’s “better than bare” I’m liking Lottie London’s really cute and affordable makeup items. For example, the vegan Oil Slicks ($7) are super shiny but not sticky. The sheer pink, tinted “Extra Cherries” smells like cherry soda, and the clear “Vanilla Whip” is delightfully scented with vanilla thanks to vanilla and cherry extracts. Both are infused with almond oil for hydration you can really feel. There is also vitamin E and B, jojoba oil, Omega-3, and sweet almond oil.
Take off your mask and slick one of this one for kissable, delectable lips. Peach Ombre Lipstick Tubes hold one of two Lottie London x Laila Loves clear glittery gel lip tint/balms. These are not just infused with hydrating lip butters, they have a pH reaction to turn more pink or slightly more peach on your skin. They’re also gluten and paraben-free and vegan. We tried “Pucker Up” (pink) and “I’m Blushing” (peachy pink). These offer you a change of pace, without making a huge lipstick statement. Love these! Visit Lottie London
Make My Mist, Maven:
Maven Beauty has two new spritzers. They’re not made with wine and you don’t drink them. They’re made with rosewater and you spritz them on your face!
Rosewater helps to control oil, it’s been used for beauty products for thousands of years as an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory that can reduce redness and puffiness. However, these sprays don’t smell like roses. Both sprays are just $22 each.
The Rose Water Setting Spray ($22) has antioxidants to provide skin benefits, but what it’s really for is to keep your makeup in place. It also controls oil. However, you don’t need much. I overdid it on my first try and it wasn’t a good look! On other tests a light mist (hold it away from your face a bit so it diffuses) kept makeup looking fresh for hours. With masks in tow, making sure your makeup stays on your face, is a must!
The Rosewater Prep& Refresh spray also required a light touch. But it did help to control oily shine and gave my bare skin a bit of luminosity. I like the way a mist refreshes your skin but also perks up your energy level. Both of these are great. Get these at Maven Beauty
