Mary Kay is synonymous with pink cars and female entrepreneurship. Mary Kay Ash offered (and still offers) benefits (pink cars to top salespeople) as well as monetary rewards for those who sell Mary Kay items. But the products are really good, and therefore you’ll want to check them out. It’s been a while since advicesisters.com reviewed Mary Kay’s beauty, so I’m delighted to share these great-for-early-gifting ideas for now and the holiday season. Some are limited edition, so get them now, or they’ll be sold out!
Lovely Lip Colors, Small Size:
I love mini-sized products. They’re easy to tote around and just fun to use. Mary Kay has two mini-sized tubes of Vinyl Shine Liquid Lip color in a boxed set. Each sponge-tipped wanded tube provides enough color to last for a couple of months, depending on how often you use it. They also last so long on your lips I had to use Micellar Water (see the end of my story here) to get it off!
There is also a set of two neutrals. But I chose the red and pink set. “Vivid berry” is a bright hot pink, and “luminous Red” is a bold clear holiday-perfect red. Pop one in your purse for day-to-night transformation. These little lovelies for lips will fit into a very small evening purse.
Pink is the New Red:
Pink is not only a Mary Kay color, it’s flattering to all skin tones. Sometimes you just don’t feel like wearing something super-bright like a bold red. However, pink always looks right. Fortunately, Mary Kay has a new collection of silky, lightly tinted lip glosses to consider. These Unlimited Lip Glosses ($16) are nice on their own, but I like them over another color as well. Try them with one of your favorite lipsticks, or maybe one of the mighty mini lip colors in the set I just described above.
I tried five pink-centric shades out of the 14 colors available from deep pink to very pale pink. Left to right in my photo are Berry de Light (cream) Pink Fusion (cream), Fancy Nancy (shimmer) Pink Ballerina (pearl), and Sheer Illusion (shimmer), There are also lots of neutrals if you like that look or just want lots of gorgeous shine. Choose from three finishes cream, pearl, or shimmer. Each dermatologist-approved gloss has good for your lips Vitamins C and E.
Travel Friendly Applicators:
Another mini-sized twofer is the Limited Edition Highlight Brush & Contour Sponge Set ($15). These are the perfect size for travel or a tote. If you’re traveling out of town, or for a destination celebration, you’ll appreciate their small size with high performance.
A pink teardrop-shaped sponge is great for smoothing out foundation, blush, or contour. The short-handled brush with big almond-shaped bristles dusts on highlighter. The sponge can be used wet or dry to blend concealer, contour, or foundation into nooks and crannies. Control your glow with a tapered brush that allows for the precise application of your favorite highlighter.
Facial Masks In Small Sizes:
Also mini but mighty is a limited edition two-pack of facial masks ($18). You can’t help but love the pink clay mask and a moisture-renewing gel mask/ Both are 1.2 0z. masks for dry to oily skin. The flip-top tubes make these clean and easy to apply.
The pink Clay mask has Pink Clay antioxidant plumeria extract. Some pink clay masks can be drying, but this one is good for dry to oily skin. Apply this creamy mask for 10 minutes, and see a glow that looks like you spent the day at the spa.
Get One, Give To Two:
Although the set is nicely boxed, you could give one to two different friends as a stocking stuffer. You get the TimeWise® Moisture Renewing Gel Mask and the Mary Kay® Pink Clay Mask in one nicely boxed set. The TimeWise® Moisture Renewing Gel Mask has the antioxidants Acai Berry Extract and Vitamin E. Chestnut Seed Extract helps calm skin while squalane acts smooths the surface of your skin. Timewise products have never disappointed me, not ever.
Me Time Eye Patches:
A “me time” idea is the jar of hydrogel eye patches ($40 for 3o pairs). Lift them out of the pink jar with the included spatula and place one under each eye, Relax for 20 minutes. Remove the patches and massage any leftover product into your skin. This cooling, hydrating product is a gift in itself.
Mary Kay® Hydrogel Eye Patches are made of hydrogel. This is water suspended in a gel matrix. There is moisturizing glycerin to help your delicate eye area blossom again. I love these for a ME time pick me up.
Marvellous Micellar Water:
Micellar water is one of the most effective ways to clean long-wear makeup off your face. You don’t need any water, just a cotton pad soaked with Mary Kay Micellar Water ($18). It works for dry to oily skin. You’ll be amazed, maybe kind of horrified, how much gunk you thought you cleansed off your skin, that is still there. And yet, Micellar water is gentle. If you wear longwear products, you need micellar water for sure. But it’s great for everyday cleansing, too.
