June may be “busting out all over” in a few weeks, but “now is the month of Maying.” The Advice Sisters reviewed a bunch of new Maybelline launches in April, but now there’s Maybelline’s soft and easy to wear limited edition collection, available this month only. All you have to do is add these key pieces to your Spring into Summer makeup collection, and you’ll be ready for whatever life brings you. There are six hot limited edition collections and all the pieces are pretty, and affordable. The photo above shows the pieces I was sent for review, and I’m adding my personal comments on these.
If you’re dreaming of being bronze, do it safely, quickly, easily and “faux” with Maybelline’s limited edition Dream Sun Bronzing Powder Four Seasons is a unique, multi-tonal palette that creates a customized bronzed look. Choose how light or dark you want to go, or combine the shades all over for a radiant glow. Available in Light and Medium, $8.99 . If you like gel bronzsers, go for the Dream Sun Bronzing Face Illuminator, a gel formula that reflects light to highlight skin and create a warm, shimmery glow. Available in one universal shade. $8.99
I tried the Dream Sun Bronzing Powder Matte for an all-over bronze look. The matte finish really works with even an oily and shiny, T-zone. Available in Light and Medium, $8.99 *the Medium I sampled was a bit dark for very pale skin, so if you are pale or don’t want too much obvious bronze, go for the light shade. However, if you want a deeper tone, use a big, soft brush and lightly add bronzer where the sun would naturally shine on your face. For those who love shimmer with their bronzing powder, the Dream Sun Bronzing Powder Glow offers a touch of shimmer that’s perfect for cheekbones and brow bones or to add a touch of sultriness to shoulders, collarbones and décolleté. Available in Light and Medium, $8.99 *the “light” bronzer was still fairly dark for a light bronze, but sheer enough to work it with pale skin.
Seaso-nail Colors: Nothing says summer more than a bright manicure! Color Show Nail Lacquer will be available in 10 show-stopping new shades that will perfectly complement your summer wardrobe. The chip resistant formula will be available in: Azure Seas, Bare Escape, Canary Cool, Midnight Swim, Mint Mist, Pacific Blues, Poolside, Sandstorm, Turquoise Paradise and Urban Utopia. $3.99
Get inked: Make eyes pop with eight bold shades of Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream-Gel Shadow. The semi-permanent gel-cream smoothes on for vibrant, crease-resistant color that wears for 24 hours – a must for steamy summer days. Amp up your look with one of these flattering shades: Blue Paradise, Cool Crush, Icy Mint, Lavish Lavender, Precious Pearl, Seashore Frosts, Shady Shores or Waves of White. $6.99 * The Advice Sisters adore these Color Tattoo shadows. They blend effortlessly with a fingertip, cover well, and last, last last! The new colors are very soft and while these limited editions are fairly sheer, they’re very layer-able. “Seashore Frosts” is my favorite: an iridesscent blue/grey/green the color of a butterfly wing.
Up the Drama: Put a spin on the smoky eye with the Eye Studio Master Drama Cream Pencil in Navy Knockout or Taupe Takeover. This eyeliner, which applies with the ease of a pencil and the intensity of a cream, allows for an incredibly bold and long-wearing line. Best of all, it’s waterproof, smudge-resistant and lasts for 24 hours. $7.99 *navy is so much more user-friendly (and less harsh) than black. The swivel-up pencil is a medium-deep blue, and it works beautifully with that “Seashore Frosts” eye shadow I mentioned above. The pencil is so soft and blend-able, you can fudge it a bit, smudge it for a hint of “sexy” and it still looks good and wont’ run or fade. Perfect for warm weather. A must-have in your makeup bag.
Go light: Get soft, sexy lips with Color Sensational Color Whisper. This lightweight lipstick creates translucent, light color with a kiss of shine. Nourishing honey nectar keeps lips soft and the barely there feel makes this a summer beauty must-have. Try it in one – or all four! – of the limited edition shades: I Crave Coral, Nude Shimmer, Ravishing Pink and Sienna Sands. $7.49 * I absolutely loved these when they arrived this Spring. There are already 20 shades, but I tried “Ravishing Pink.” It’s so light it’s almost sheer, but it’s a great alternative to a no makeup look, because it adds just a hint of pink to lips without being overdone. These sheer lipsticks feature pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel and they feel completely non-sticky or greasy, just lovely and light on your lips. Honey nectar keeps lips soft and there aren’t any heavy oils or waxes to make your lips dry or cause the lip product to wander all over your face.
Shine on: Make a statement with six gorgeous shades of Color Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss. This wax-free gloss delivers pure color for saturated look with the ultimate shine. Honey nectar nourishes lips. Coral Heat, Fuschia Sparks, Nude Compliment, Peach Glisten, Peony Sheen, and Rose Lust pack the perfect punch. $7.49 *who doesn’t love and need a soft lip gloss with lots of shine, for Spring and Summer? These are lovely. *My pick is “Coral Heat.” The bright coral is sheer, but leaves enough color and tons of whine, so you don’t really need a lipstick under it, and there’s a slight citrus-y scent, too. Yummm!
