On Friday, February 13th, Novis (www.novisnyc.com) designer Jordana Warmflash presented her Fall/Winter 2015 collection at Industria Studios in New York City. It’ was her 5th presentation at Fashion week, and it was inspired by the shapes, patterns, textures, and use of colors in Henri Matisse’s Cut-Outs. As you can see from the photos, the collection included some traditional shapes, but also some more conceptual designs, with a few kind of wacky dresses that looked like the pieces were cut with very large pinking shears. Maybe not for the average red carpet but certainly very eye catching.
For the more traditional, there were dresses and coats in silk/cashmere knits, double-face wool crepe, mohair, herringbone, leather, silk 4-ply, some with hand beading and silk zibeline / faille. The palette featured aubergine, pale sky blue, bright sky blue, indigo, mint green, bright green, black, cream and oversize camel plaid. The footwear was as unusual as the designs, with mismatched colors, and ankle socks. Maybe not a statement everyone can pull off, but certainly whimsical and individualistic.
The hair was “effortlessly” undone by Frank Rizzieri for Aveda while the makeup balanced the bold clothing, by Liz O’Malley for Bobbi Brown, Nails were by \Casey Herman for China Glaze, Based on what I saw, Fall is going to be an inspired, interested and fun time for fashionistas!
