Advicesisters Beauty and Style has always been a website where adult readers have gravitated to get information, inspiration, motivation, and ideas to help make their lives easier, more successful and more fun. But when teenager Chloe Aiello emailed me and asked if she could write features for advicesisters.com from a teenager’s perspective. I just had to say “yes.”
Increasingly, younger women are reading our posts too for the same reasons: to learn about what is new, exciting, trendy, and useful in their daily lives.
We can’t think of anyone better suited to share some of that information than a talented member of their own “tribe.”
We welcome your feedback. Contact Us by Email, or share your thoughts on social media.

Spring Fashion Trends From Head to Toe You’ll Want to Try
By Chloe Aiello
What’s Hot For Spring 2017? Back to the ’80s
What’s that season between winter and summer that we all love? Yep, it’s spring! Flowers are blooming. Trees turn luscious and green. The sun smiles brightly. And the wind blows gently. It really is a gorgeous time to try out some gorgeous trends.
These trends are back from the 80’s. That’s right, the 80’s have made an insane comeback!
Here’s what these hot, retro-trends look like!
Messy Low Ponytails:
Messy low ponytails are so in style. To spice up these ponies, add a cute hair cuff or twist your hair together into a topsy tail and secure it with bobby pins/hair elastic.
My personal favorite fashion trend is statement earrings.
These do everything from pulling an outfit together to subtly accentuating favorite facial features.
But, we aren’t here to talk about subtle. Big extravagant hoops and sleek shiny chains are where it is all at this season!
Have you seen those girls walking around with chains attaching puffballs to their ears? Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about!
When trying to achieve this look, go big; it’s not for the faint of heart!
If you like the look, but it seems too bold, pair it with a minimalist outfit. Solid colors are your friends here.
Top Tips: Frills/Off the Shoulder Tops/Shoulder Pads are “In”
An 80’s trend we can’t get enough of is frills!
We love frills on everything! Bell sleeves look gorgeous and feminine with a little bit of frill around a shirt’s torso. We like this ruffled sleeve tee from Artic Cubic..
Off-one-shoulder tops are definitely replacing cold shoulder shirts. Look for tops with springy, flirty ruffles.
With these ruffles, you can knock out two trends at once! This long-sleeved off the shoulder blouse by JQStar looks good paired with a sleek high ponytail or bun.
Both of these tops feature another fun Spring trend: stripes!
Believe it or not, they are making a comeback and look great in a pantsuit.
This bright blue blazer for example, has a modern shape to keep the look fresh. Wear it over just about everything!
Cropped Tops with High Waisted Jeans:
We also are loving the loose cropped t-shirts. This look is best paired with high-waisted bottoms. Not into cropped t-shirts? Then, try a regular t-shirt and tie it just above the top of your high-waisted jeans (as shown in the photo)
Also, these jeans would look awesome cropped with the edges frayed.
Fashion doesn’t stop when it gets to your feet.
We love sneakers not just because they’re comfortable, but because they are so on-trend.
The Adidas superstar shoes (in the photo) have been worn by tons of celebrities (Gigi Hadid is a big fan), but these oh so cool kicks are affordable, too.
Makeup: The Finishing Touch
Eyes are a big focus for this season, but not just the lids, the lashes, too. From colored mascaras to neon liners, an eye makeup statement is a must.
Lower lash line eye makeup is a gorgeous retro-look everyone loves. Here’s how to do it right:
To achieve this look, apply a dark shimmery eyeshadow with an eyeliner brush right below the lash line. Extend the eyeshadow into a soft wing. Then, smudge with a fluffy eyeshadow blending brush.
On the top lid, apply a little of the same color to the crease and the outer “V.”
You want the top lid to have a lighter color than the bottom lid. Blend again with your fluffy eyeshadow blending brush.
Finally, highlight the inner corner of the eye and the brow bone. I recommend this look with an oxblood, raisin, or really any shimmery color you like.
Glossy lips are having their moment, too. And let me just say, I couldn’t be happier.
