Not into Nude? Reds & Berries are your bold, “berry nice” choice for Fall 2015 (Part I: Prepare Your Lips)
There are some lip colors that are classic. Although “nude” is trendy, from my up close and personal observations backstage the last few fashion week seasons, nude doesn’t even translate to pretty on young, fresh models. Most women benefit from some actual color. There’s a reason that bold lips never go out of style. It takes a certain amount of confidence to wear a bold “look at me” lip, I avoided it for years, until I found the fabulous lipstick line, Poppy King’s Lipstick Queen. Suddenly, red was my signature look and I’ll never go back.The key is to find products and color tones that work for your complexion. I just have selected some current red and berry products that I think are user-friendly, to share with you (find more in the search box upper right hand corner of this page). Tip: high end lipsticks are fun, but if you’re not sure you can carry of a particular shade of red or berry, get an inexpensive one first. Some of my personal favorite reds and berries are long lasting formulas that you can find from popular brands (Cover Girl, Maybelline, Revlon) in drugstores. The key to smooth and longer lasting application begins with smooth lips. If your lips are cracked and have little dry pieces the darker colors will highlight these. Even smooth lips need to be exfoliated regularly (and then treated with lip balm).
