The Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean is a gem!
One of the newest electric toothbrushes from the most endorsed brand names by dentists is the new Philips Sonicare DiamondClean. It is probably the best electric toothbrush today because of its innovative cleaning technology. This toothbrush doesn’t just have a unique design, it can be charged three different ways, with a charger stand, in a glass cup (that you can use for rinsing) on the charger stand, or in at travel kit with a USB charger. Imagine using your computer to help get your teeth clean!
The toothbrush itself is slim, but powerful, with five different settings: clean, whiten, polish, gum care (stimulates and massages gums) and sensitive (for more gentle cleaning) Most people will just use the Clean setting, which is a 2-minute clean. The White setting removes surface stains and is 2/5 minutes long. The polish settting is 1 minute, gum care is 3 minutes, sensitive setting, 1 minute. There are 30-second delays to help you clean the four quadrants of your mouth.
The press literature says that the innovative teeth & gum cleanining technology in the DiamondClear from Philips has been scientifically proven to eliminate up to 100% of plaque from places of the mouth that are difficult to reach. That’s not to say it’s going to get rid of big pieces of visible plaque that might already be on your teeth, but it’s going to help. The massaging and stimulating action of the toothbrush is also supposed to improve the condition of gums in 2 weeks, and whiten the teeth in at least a week. I don’t have gum problems, but I guess in the old days I brushed too vigorously, becuase I do have some teeth abrasions, and the DiamondClean is supposed to prevent teeth abrasion as well as gum problems.
What makes the DiamondClean a unique gem? Without gettting too technical, the patented technology is a sonic technology, that works by “whipping” toothpaste and saliva to produce a liquid that is full of oxygen. The liquid is driven in between and behind the teeth as well as on the gum line as these are where bacteria stays. If you open your mouth while using the toothbrush little bits of saliva and toothpaste will fly out, but even though the toothbrush vibrates in your hand and somewhat tickles your gums, you’ll find that it’s gentle –no ripping of flesh or bloody gums from this amazing DiamondClean.
The DiamondClean charger: The DiamondClean gives you various ways to charge the toothbrush, making it innovative in that area of design as well. The chrome base charger can be used alone, or with an overlay glass that is good for rinsing and storing the DiamondClean after use. But if you’re on the road, you can take the DiamondClean out of it’s clamshell travel case and simply use the included, USB plug to charge it from a laptop or computer. Still, with all that, the Philips products (e.g, the Philips Sonicare Airfloss ). the Advice Sisters recently reviewed) hold a charge long and well, for about three weeks, as does this new, DiamondClean.
There’s everything to love, and little to dislike about this new, Philips Sonicare DiamondClean. I love the idea that you can charge the unit in a glass when the chrome base is plugged in, but I don’t like the idea of leaving a glass on my sink because my pets like the sink, too, and I can imagine that glass would be a “no no” around little children.Also, there is an ON button but no Off (the unit turns itself off in a few moments) and you have to scroll through the five different modes to change them. They are marked only with a light when they’re “on.” These are minor (and personal) objections. The unit is a true GEM in every sense of the word.
The only true bad news is the price. Someone has to pay for all that magical technology, and that would be the consumer. Amazon is selling this unit right and its suggested retail price is $219.99 .
