The other day I was in a packed subway car. It was hot and humid outside, and there is no delicate way to put this: plenty of people, smelled! I am sure that they didn’t intend to be odiferous, but if you’re sweating on the subway platform and then you are packed into a train car with other sweaty people, odor, happens!
It’s really a challenge to stay fresh when sweat is literally dripping down the back of your bra, but a good deodorant can go a long way to keeping you smelling like a woman, not like livestock in a freight car. Alas, many of the deodorants have powerful chemicals that can cause irritation and rashes. Even if you’re not normally sensitive, over-use of a strong, chemical deodorant, can cause issues. But one that helps you smell fresh, and doesn’t clog your pores with “gunk” is pHresh Deodorant. Made for teens and tweens, it’s part of the Sparklehearts line of all natural bath and body products for younger girls. But I have to tell you, they work, for women, too!
The white swivel up sticks have nice scents like g Crème Brulee, Tropical Blossom, Sugar Mint, Barely Sweet and an unscented version called “pHree.” I didn’t try them all, but I liked Creme Brulee that smelled a bit less like the desert, and a lot less sweet, but somehow, still refreshing and appropriate for daytime. My favorite was the Sugar Mint that really added a bit of refreshing minty zip to my morning. Even my husband liked it. But best of all for those of us who really do have sensitive skin, these deodorants have soothing organic aloe, along with a powerful antimicrobial ingredient that helps stop odor causing bacteria. AND, the entire line is vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, glycol-free, petroleum-free, aluminum-free and chemical-free! In other words, you will find that your armpits smell decent, even in the heat, but you won’t be doing it with aluminum, propylene glycols, parabens or other things not natural to nature, or your body.
The stick are 1.7 oz and cost $6.99, a nice price for an all natural product. For those who just have to know, here are the ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Propanediol, Zea Mays Starch, Sodium Stearate, Silica, Saccharomyces Ferment, Stearyl Behenate, Carrageenan, Lycium Barbarum Fruit Extract, 100% Natural Deodorant, Glcerin, Lauryl Laurate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Extract.*Organic
An all natural deodorant sounds great, but if it doesn’t do the job it was designed for, it’s not something I can endorse. I admit I had a few worried moments wear-testing these, I really didn’t think that a deodorant with cute graphics and natural ingredients would do the job, and I wondered if the tweens and teens these products are directed towards, just sweat less. But I gamely tested them while sitting in the heat at an outdoors graduation, where I was literally sweating for a couple of hours. Later on in the day, a quick checked proved it was still working. Then, I wear-tested it in the heat and humidity of Washington DC. Same result!
Obviously, everyone’s body chemistry is a little different, but it worked for me, and it should work for most people. So, if you’re looking for a way to “pamper your pits” and keep odor away this Summer, pHresh Deodorant is a great choice. You can find it at: www.pHreshDeodorant.com and http://sparklehearts.com and on sites like Amazon, and other places where natural health and beauty products are sold.
