The Iron Maiden originally was the name of a medieval torture device, consisting of an iron cabinet, with a hinged front that allowed someone to torture or kill a person by piercing the body with sharp objects (such as knives, spikes or nails), while he or she was forced to remain standing. Less sinister, Iron Maiden was the name of a 1970’s heavy metal band. MUCH less sinister, actually, really lovely, it’s also the name of a lipstick color by Shiseido that is going to help women with breast cancer.
Yes, that’s right! For the fifth consecutive year, Shiseido Cosmetics America is partnering with Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) to support their philanthropic arm, Cancer and Careers, during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Cancer and Careers is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting working women living with cancer. As part of the partnership, Shiseido will donate $5 to Cancer and Careers for every unit of Shiseido Makeup Shimmering Rouge Lipstick in Iron Maiden (RS308) sold throughout the month of October.
Shiseido’s Shimmering Rouge lipstick is one of my all-time favorites. In fact, just about everything Shiseido offers is top notch. But these lipsticks are something sepcial, offering beautiful, saturated color, with magically moist gloss. The long-lasting color slides on perfectly in one swipe from the elegant, slim-line, angled-tipped tube. The formula contains “super-bio yeast extract: to promote collagen production while Shiseido’s exclusive, dual-layer, spherical pearl ingredient helps disperse light in all directions and help your lips look smoother and younger, A Super Hydro-wrap vitalizing DE ingredient contains an oil that blends well with water, so your lips look and feel moisturized.
Iron Maiden is a fashion-forward color. It looks very blue-purple in the photo but it’s not quite what you think. Mixed with the flesh color of your lips, it is really a magical, deep pink that flatters everyone. Even a redhead like me can rock this one. It’s a get-down-to-business, take-no-prisoners pink. It’s a fight breast cancer and win it girl, pink! It reminds me of the pink lipstick uber Cosmo Girl Helen Gurley Brown would have loved when she was writing “Sex and the Single Girl.” Yes, it’s a deep, moist, pouty, sexy pink. You’ll do good and look fabulous wearing Iron Maiden. I am just besotted with this color. I’d buy it because I love the way it looks on my lips, but you should get it right now in October, because it helps women who really need your support.
