Whenever I see news about Babor cosmetics, I am excited, because I love this brand! Their elegant, gold packaging and high performance skincare and makeup are pampering and beautifying. Babor’s color makeup does more than just look good, it contains the same, skin-nurturing ingredients that are in Babor skincare. For example, Babor’s active “lifting” ingredient complex specially developed for the line. Samphire extracts help regenerate, Vitamin E effectively protects from free radicals, and Lupine Oil regenerates and protects the skin barrier. The amino acid complex L-PCA also gives additional moisture. Today, Thanksgiving Day, let’s give thanks for spectacular makeup. Tomorrow, run to get your Babor, or buy it online, today.
The hot color collection that I am loving is the Babor “Spectacular Me” color collection. The collection (there are also teal and nude looks) was created by celebrated make-up artist Peter Schmidinger for Babor’s Face Design Collection. Peter suggests starting any Winter look with Perfecting Translucent Powder ($42.00), a transparent powder that mattifies the complexion, but I tried a Babor foundation: Age Conceal. This creamy, liquid foundation in a tube seems to stay put and true to color for hours, and it is good for all skin types with live pumpkin and retinol cells. Light dispersing pigments visually conceal lines and give natural UVA protection. Although it is only available in three shades, the translucent nature of this foundation makes it adjustable to most light to medium dark complexions. For those who want to “fine tune” their complexion, try Babor’s Perfect Skin IlluminatoR ($32.00), a brightener in a luxurious metal case with a practical applicator brush. It is long lasting and conceals small imperfections perfectly. The mimetic pigments do not build up in lines no matter what facial movements your face makes. It protects, treats and regenerates thanks to its lifting complex. Winter complexions can be especially pale and dull, but you can brighten yours up with Babor’s Super Soft Blush Duo. This pressed powder in a compact comes with it’s own, nice, flat blush brush. With two matte colors you can add a pale glow or a more intense one, or do a bit of subtle contouring. I suggest #04 “Mauve” which adds a “plum-centric” glow to cheeks. The light and dark mauve have enough pink to look pretty, not purple.
For Eyes, Peter has picked a bunch of pretty shadows. But first, keep the color longer lasting and true to color with an Advanced Eye Shadow Base ($17.00). This soft cream- to-powder texture covers small blood vessels and reduces redness. Then apply your favorite new eye shadow, which might just be the travel-friendly, Eye Shadow and Liner Two in One ($25.00) in “Violett.” This combo features a soft smoked plum shadow on one end, a deep, plum liner pencil on the other. Also new is an Eye Shadow Two in One in “Teal” ($25.00) that has a light, shimmery mauve shadow on one end, a deep shimmery teal on the other. What’s great about these is that they are easy to use and slim enough to travel with you for touch-ups. Purists can line eyes with Babor’s nice, Maxi Definition Eye Contour Pencil ($12.00) and color lids with Babor’s lovely, Super Soft Eye Shadow ($22.00) made with plant oils, beeswax and wheat starch, and Babor’s lifting complex offers protection from environmental stress while treating and regenerating the skin. There are other liners as well, but these are the ones that rock the Winter season the best!
Add longer lashes with any one of Babor’s beautiful mascara formulas. Peter’s choice is Super Style Mascara in “02 Violet” ($28.00). The color is medium plum, deep enough to color even blonde lashes, but again, it is more a modern, medium plum, than harsh purple. Babor’s Long Lash Mascara ($26.00). The elegant gold tube holds a curved precision brush that forms and lengthens lashes in one stroke. The mascara is long lasting, and panthenol provides moisture. too! There is also Fake Lash Effect Mascara ($26.00) for more volume and no clumping, and Maxi Volume Mascara $26.00) that adds volume and offers excellent lash definition.
Lips Get the Plum treatment as well, with an Ultra Performance Lip Colour in “25 Soft Lilac” ($25.00) or “26 Cream Bronze.” I love Babor’s golden cases with a little “knob” that looks like a golden drawer pull, to get the lipstick out of it’s case. Neither the light and shimmery pink-ish mauve or the very similar brown-ish color were enough for my lips, they are both nice neutral nudes. And, you’ve just got to love the formula: creamy and pampering, offering Babor’s protecting and nurturing Lifting Complex, along with long wear and moist shine. To make these lipsticks (or any lipstick) last longer and do good things for your lips, apply Babor’s Advanced Lip Base ($21.00) in a wanded tube. The creamy light ivory base has hyaluronan micro spheres to give lips more volume and moisture, smoothing lines and making the lips look more even. An added bonus is that lipstick and lip gloss stay on much longer. TIP: be sure to let the light ivory base dry first to ensure that your chosen lip color stays true.
Finally, there is a pretty plum for your nails, in Babor’s Ultra Performance Nail Colour ($13.00). Try “Aubergine” for an elegant, soft, deep plum that looks appropriate for daytime and still festive for evening events or a soft, greyed Teal for truly trendy option. The tiny 6ml bottle is just about enough for a month of plum-perfect nails. It dries fast to a shiny finish, and lasts without chipping for a long time. It does not contain methylbenzene or formaldehyde. The bottle may be small, but the effect on your nails will be huge!
Obviously, there are many more colors and cosmetics to choose from, but this gives you a taste. And, while it is true that these are high end items, they are worth the extra for performance, quality, and beauty. The SPECTACULAR ME TREND Collection will be available November 18 at www.babor.com, as well as in the finest luxury resorts, leading day spas and cosmetic boutiques across the country. The entire Babor Face Design Collection is now available as well.
Great post!
