Enchanted poppies may have put Dorothy to sleep in the Wizard of Oz, but their bright color and pretty blossoms make them a cheerful, happy, uplifting sight for most of us. Now, the Coach company, known for their high end leather handbags and covet-able accessories, pays homage to the poppy and the poppy girl. She is “bright and bold” according to Karyn Khoury, Estee Lauder Companies Senior Vice President of Corporate Fragrance Development worldwide.
While the poppy flower itself apparently doesn’t have a scent of it’s own, Poppy Flower by Coach certainly does. It’s a cheerful, fruity floral that feels youthful and fun, and not too fussy. The notes in Poppy Flower are a mix of citrus, wet ivy, black currant and litchi at the top, with a lovely, floral heart of jasmine, rose, water lily, peony and sugared raspberries, with a bunch of subdued bottom notes including amber wood, sandalwood, apricot skin and musk.

I like the packaging a great deal, It’s an eye-catching melange of bright fuchsia and white with gold accents that make a graffiti-like design on the carton, look very cute. The bottle within is clear and nice to hold. The heck is tied with a ittle ribbon bow, just underneath a silver top embossed with the same design as on the outer carton. Cute! Cute! Cute!

Fragrance is highly subjective. What someone else adores, might not be to my taste, and Poppy Flower feels too “young” for me. That’s not to say you won’t adore it. In fact, it you are a fruity floral fan, or you’re a young woman who is too old for “sugary” teen scents, but not ready for something weighty or super-sophisticated, Poppy Flower will make you an instant fan. The fragrance stands out on your skin and stays put for a long time.
