PORTS 1961 Spring 2010 Collection at Bloomingdales Vanity Fair Event in NYC

I was absolutely wowed when I first viewed the PORTS 1961 Spring 2010 Collection on the runway in Byrant Park, last September. The collection has Designer Tia Cibiani’s signature clean lines, and this time, a very subdued palette. There are few frills but instead, the glamour comes from artful, elegant, texture and draping, and the use of gorgeous fabrics. A special reprise of this PORTS 1961 Spring collection was held at the Bloomgindale’s flagship store in NYC last week, hosted by Bloomingdales and Vanity Fair Magazine. The large crowd was also excited to meet fashion expert Ann Caruso who provided styling advice after the show.

everyone else had their cameras trained on the runway models, but I took a moment to photograph dedsigner Tia Cibani (on the right, in the long, maroon skirt) looking at her own collection on the runway. I wonder what she was thinking?

ports My friend, fashion designer & model, Esther Nash and I, stood at the runway, remaking that these designs show off a great figure, but Tia Cibani knows how to use draping and beautiful tailoring to also flatter women whose bodies might not be perfect. The draping and folds enhance, but don’t necessarily hug, every curve. Esther loved the more form fitting dresses, but I loved the more flowing ones with lots of back interest, like this one

hairports I am not sure if the same makeup artists and hair stylists were used for this Bloomingdale’s even as for the original show, but the look was the same. For the original show, the sleek, turned down chignon was originally created by Aveda Advanced Academy New York. The striking swaths of bold orange-red eye shadow balanced by nude lips, were the creation of the MAC Pro Team, with Isabelle Lepage Director of Hair & Makeup. (*these two photos were taken by me from my seat in the Bryant Park tent during the actual runway show back in September).

After the runway show, Tia Cibani and the models didn’t run away backstage. They spoke to fans, and posed for photos. I got a chance to say hello to some of the wonderful executives from PORTS 1961 as well. PORTS 1961 really knows how to treat Editors with consideration and respect, and I really appreciate it! I took these two photos of Tia with Esther Nash and her sister, Shelly and also Esther with the models with my Blackberry. I’d left my trusted NIKON at home that evening. https://www.ports1961.com/#/home/2_spring-2010/
