Are you a fragrance fan? You’re not alone. However, it would be very expensive to try out all the fragrances you hear about. Well, guess what? Purpl Lux is a monthly subscription service from Fragrancenet.com that can bring travel-sized fragrances to you! It’s a great way to try scents and these swivel up fragrance decanters are perfect for your purse or travel. They are not refillable, but if you subscribe you have access to over 600 designer fragrances for as little as $9.95 per month (with a yearly subscription).
According to Jason Apfel, CEO of Fragrance.com, “The successful launch of Purpl Lux enables our fragrance community to benefit from the wide array of fragrances we carry at a lower initial purchase price. We are completely engrossed in the fragrance community and very often hear consumers ask for trial-sized products to test before investing in full-sized bottles. Purpl Lux not only creates that solution but gives fragrance lovers a way to build out their fragrance wardrobe.”
There is another reason to try this service. Going to a department store and getting a tiny vial, or worse, having a scent sprayed on your skin, won’t give you what you need to know if the fragrance really works for you. Will you love it in a couple of hours when it’s worn off? This .27 oz. sprays give you enough fragrance to really try it more than a couple of times.
600 Designer Fragrances:
I looked a the list of fragrances and was really excited about the wide range. I’ve reviewed a lot of fragrances on advicesisters.com over the years, but there are plenty I have never tried and wanted to test at home (Read: How to Ace Choosing a Scent for Yourself or Someone Else). However, to test out the service, I was sent four fragrances I wanted to try. These were: Scherrer by Jean Louis Scherrer; Rouge by Hermes; Serge Lutens L’Orpheline and; Apres L’Ondee by Guerlain.
All of these were interesting, but some didn’t have long-lasting sillage. Others just sounded great from the descriptions, but they didn’t smell as great on my skin. However, the Scherrer by Jean Louis Scherrer was a sophisticated scent that I’d seriously consider purchasing on my own now that I’ve had a chance to test it out.
If you’re not ready to pay for a year, you can pay monthly ($14.95/month). This will give you the chance to get nicely sized samples of genuine scent from the original bottle. The spray decanters swivel up (so no leaks) and they’re really nice. They’re great for purse and travel. or travel and great for your purse.
None of the fragrances above are inexpensive. There are also some premium fragrances that are seriously high cost on the list. When you think about it, many of these fragrances are pricey. For less than the cost of one bottle, you can try fragrances all year long. This would make such a great gift, too.
