Every now and then a product is pitched to me that really has an emotional impact. One such company is R. Riveter. R. Riveter is deeply committed to those who have supported their country. Their bespoke Heirloom Collection takes personal fabric items from members of the military and turns them into bags to carry and pass down. Parts and pieces are made remotely across the country to provide military spouses with mobile, flexible income opportunities. These bags are designed for women to remind them that whatever mission they are on there’s an entire Riveter Community cheering them on. But there is also a Signature Collection of ready-made bags. I checked out the Hopper Bag from the Signature Collection.
R.Riveter Hopper Bag:

The Hopper Bag in Creamsicle
Although many of the R. Riveter bags are made of canvas with leather trimmings, the Hopper bag is made in soft genuine leather in a number of colors and prints. The simple curved design makes it easy to dress up with a fancy strap. The bag is the color of that iconic Summer treat, the creamsicle. A small R. Riveter logo is on the front side in gold metallic. However, the inside of this buttery soft leather crossbody bag is Beige and black striped fabric.
A nice touch is a patch showing the liner, assembly, and OC. Each R.Riveter handbag features components crafted by independent military spouses in their homes around the nation. Then they are shipped to R.Riveter’s workshop to be assembled into a one-of-a-kind product. I really felt as though there was great care taken in putting the bag together.
What’s Inside?
Two open pockets for your phone and one small zippered pocket are on the inside. This is a fairly spacious handbag: Height 7.5″ x Width 10″ x Depth (at base) 3″ . I am still using a Galaxy S9plus and it just fits. If your phone is much larger, it might not. However, anything you wish will certainly fit in the spacious body of the bag,
The contrasting 1/2″ warm brown leather strap is thin and easy to wear. Although they’re not offered, you can remove that strap via two large lobster claw clasps and add one of the fancy “guitar strap” type straps trending now.
A Nice Touch:
Additionally, there is a removable gold dog tag on the zipper pull with the date and a yellow leather disc with the word “support “and a Remote Riveter number you can look up via the R. Riveter website. My number shows that it was made by a military-affiliated person named “Shea” in Colorado Springs.
Who Is Grace Hopper?
This sleek bag R.Riveter handbag was named for Grace Hopper. Of course, I had to look her up. Grace helped to bring COBAL into use, and coined the word “debugging” (due to finding an actual mouth in the system she was working on). Hopper went on to serve in the military and built important systems for 43 years and retired with the rank of Rear Admiral. Even after her retirement, she worked as a consultant to Digital Equipment Corporation aiding on committees, lecturing, and visiting engineering facilities. Her success in a male-dominated field deserves a standing ovation. I am so proud to wear the handbag that bears her name.
These bags are just so fashionable, interesting, and so cool!! Visit https://www.rriveter.com/
