CoverGirl Makeup That Looks as Good as It Lasts
CoverGirl Outlast won’t let you down when you can’t touch up, or humidity and heat make it feel like you skin is melting off, not to mention your makeup!
Fans (we’re included) love CoverGirl long-wear products not just because you don’t have to touch them up and they have trendy color palettes and cosmetics’ improvement to make life easier.
Here are some of our new favorites, and some favorites already in the CoverGirl collection that Coty was kind enough to send us for review:
Outlast for Lips:
Outlast All‑Day Color & Gloss (Srp. $9.24) is a multi-tasking dual-ended travel-friendly lip color with intense color paired with a matching color‑enhancing gloss in trendy shades. What we love so much about these is that they offer the same stick to your lips like forever until you take them off. You can wear the gloss separately as it’s not clear.
There are a dozen shades from nude to deep red and berry. We tried “Passionate Pink, “a clear bright medium pink with a sheer pink gloss, and “Peche Mure” a bright coral with a nude gloss. Both looked Spring to Summer-perfect!
If you wear CoverGirl Outlast Lip Color ($9.24)) you may not wear anything else in your lipstick collection. They come in two parts — a wanded tube with a felt-tipped want to apply intense, glossy color, and a second tube which is a swivel up clear gloss to moisturize and add shine.
There are some reds in the core collection, but Covergirl also launched the Custom Reds Collection of Outlast Lip Colors. These are not just pure red, but red-centric tones to match light, medium and deep complexions.
The lip color is so great, we can’t live without it. It won’t bleed, feather, bake, crumble or clump no matter what you do (refresh with the hydrating gloss during the day).
We tried the two for pale skin that really weren’t red at all: “Orange-U Gorgeous” (a warm orange/apricot apricot) and “Custom Coral,” a glorious coral. You can wear any color you want though, we give you permission!
Not quite as long lasting but in a traditional bullet lipstick style are the trendy-cute limited edition Katy Kat Pearl Lipsticks (approx. $8.88) . There are four pearlescent shimmery shades specially designed by Katy Perry, infused with shea butter and luxurious oils so that they feel as soft as kitten fur on your lips.
Really trendy is “Blue-tiful Kitty” a true baby blue. “Apricat” is a smooth apricot, and “Pretty in Pink” is a girly light.medium pearly pink. Tip: Start at the center of the upper lip, apply the lipstick moving outward toward one corner. Repeat on the other side and on the lower lip. Use your pinky or a lip brush to fill in any gaps.
Outlast For Your Face:
There are so many products from CoverGirl Outlast! If you want to see them all visit the Outlast Collection section on Cover Girl’s Website.
One new product that we tried is the Outlast All-Day All Soft Touch Concealer ($11.99) that arrives in a travel-friendly squeeze tube with slanted felt tip. Six colors from fair to deep let you personalize the semi-opaque coverage. We especially liked the way this performed under foundation, where some concealers just get shiny or “melt.”
This one didn’t clog our pores or fade away, and the applicator let us touch up if we needed to without stick our hands in a jar of cream (we dabbed with the applicator, no hands required).
Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation ($11.29) comes in a glass pump bottle and, like all Outlast products, it is meant to last for hours and hours. More than that, this foundation also contains a concealer and primer plus SPF 20.
Ours in “Classic Ivory” is the second lightest, but the tones are not just light to dark, they vary from warm to neutral to cool. In our tests, the color stayed true and stayed moist, not shiny.
Some reviewers have reported a bit of breakthrough shine and color shift. We can’t verify this but we can say that with 14 color and tone choices the key is to find the right match or mix two together to get just the color you want.
We also like the Covergirl OutlastAll Day Matt Finishing Powder ($12.99) in three shades. The lightweight compact containing a creamy, matte powder is a great take-along to freshen up any time.
We also like the Covergirl OutlastAll Day Matt Finishing Powder ($12.99) in three shades. The slim, lightweight compact containing a creamy, matte powder blends easily and evens out discolorations while the oil controlling formula blots shine. It’s a great take-along to freshen up wherever you are.
Arriving in JUNE: A new foundation with skin loving benefits is CoverGirl Vitalist Healthy Elixer Foundation ($11.49). The full coverage foundation in a glass pump bottle (the pump sends out just the amount you need) and is available in 14 different shades from very light to deep. It has SPF 20 plus antioxidants and vitamins to hydrate (up to 24 hours) and protect your skin.
We couldn’t get a definite on the actives but I think it’s Titanium Dioxide which means it’s a good choice for many who don’t like chemical sunblocks.
The finish is mostly matte with a bit of radiance and it blended so beautifully, it looked like our own skin but better.
There is a bit of a strong floral scent –surprising, but not unpleasant. Another bonus? The foundation really dries quickly, It isn’t an Outlast formula, but it did last!
Tip: Apply a small amount of foundation to forehead, cheeks, the tip of nose and chin, then blend and layer as much as required.
New CoverGirl Mascaras
Two new products for lashes that aren’t Outlast, but do come in regular and waterproof versions, have unusual mascara wands you’ll want to know about and try. Both are ophthalmologically tested and suitable for contact lens wearers.
A true newbie is Covergirl Total Tease Mascara ($9.24). The minute you see the photo with the spiral pink handle you know it is going to be special (and it is). Uniquely shaped mascara wands are a must these days, and this one is no exception, with a two-sided precision lash comb brush that helps to separate lashes, and at the tip, a little “lash teasing mascara comb” to get those tiny corner lashes that are so hard to coat with a traditional mascara wand.
Even better, there are 5 shades in regular and waterproof including very black, black, black brown and deep blue. New mascara wand designs might need a few tries to get used to, and that’s what it took with the sample we were sent for review in “Very Black,” but once we got the hang of it, we loved the look.
*Another unique and new CoverGirl mascara is SoLashy ($11.99) This one has an even more unusual mascara wand, built like a little scepter.
This long lasting mascara that works for all lash types to pump up the volume no matter what kind of lashes you have. In our test with our sample “Jet Black” we got great results on thin lashes as well as thicker ones. You just have to remember to rotate the wands and the ball tip!
How to Remove Longwear Makeup:
Longwear makeup is great because it stays put without touch-ups until you want to take it off, but then you need something special to do so. The best ways are to use micellar water, makeup remover or a makeup-removing microfiber face cloth.
One makeup-removing face cloth we recently received for review is the FACEOff Cloth ($14.99) from Incredible Novelties.
This is a soft, micro-fiber washcloth (good for all skin types) that doesn’t need soap to cleanse your skin and remove makeup. Simply wet the cloth with warm water and it wipes away dirt, grime, sweat and almost every type of makeup.
In our tests FaceOff cloth worked as advertised, regular makeup comes off easily, (for Outlast Lipsticks we needed to scrub a bit) If you’re just removing regular makeup, or cleaning your skin, it’s even better.
FaceOff is eco-friendly too, since you just wash it with soap and water after you’ve used it and hang it up to dry. So you can use it over and over again. It’s great for travel/ folds up the size of a portable tissue pack.
Put your wet cloth in a zip lock and dry it when you’re at your destination. And, if one isn’t enough you can buy these in multiples, nicely packaged.
