Lips & Tips: the two things every woman wants to feel chic and “polished” (pun intended). But who has the time for fancy nail art these days? So Cult New York designers Brian Wolk and Claude Morais of Ruffian got together with M.A.C to produce three sets of perfectly paired, exclusive Ruffian Manicures and Lipsticks. Each ready-to-wear set includes 24 nails that are pre-glued and in assorted sizes so when you press them on, they fit! There are several, eye-catching (but easy to apply) designs: Spectator ovals, an inky spin on the classic French manicure; turn everything to gold with gilded tips . la Demilune; or push buttons in five-alarm Demoiselle talons.
For lips, let’s not forget that we love the “power pout” : Ruffian Red, Ruffian Naked, a creamy beige, and Ruffian Gold, its 24-carat kin. A triple-threat of colour, texture and style!
This isn’t Ruffian’s first foray into a makeup partnership with M-A-C. During New York Fashion week in 2009, M-A-C Cosmetics, and Ruffian, collaborated on a Limited Edition Ruffian Red Lipstick that caused quite a stir! This yellow-based red lipstick (by M-A-C and Ruffian’s designer, Brian Wolk) was one of the most coveted lipsticks ever, because only 500 tubes actually existed. You couldn’t buy it. Only those who attended the designer’s show on February 14, 2009, and a few, select trendsetters (including me) had the honor to wear it. The universally flattering red was inspired by a red lacquer 18th Century Chinese vase (from the home of Wolk’s friend and muse, Antonie Thompson). The lipstick captures the “Franco-American allure” of Ruffian’s fall 2009 collection….and it captured my attention!
As time marches on, so do more beautiful products, from M-A-C. This new collection of Ruffian Manicures and Lipsticks by M-A-C (I like to call it: “Lips & Tips”) is wearable beauty, although limited edition. I love the ruffled curtain design in stark black and white on the outer packaging. Too bad M-A-C didn’t put it on the actual compacts and bottles (as they sometimes do with collections). It’s not a huge collection, but it’s going to be snapped up by aficionados, so get yours before they’re all gone. Here’s the rundown on the collection, with a few personal notes from The Advice Sisters:
LIPSTICK:
Ruffian Naked Pale peachy nude (matte)
Ruffian Gold Gold glitter metallic (frost) *this is the silkiest, more glamorous gold glitter lipstick I’ve ever experienced. If you ever wanted “Bond Girl” lips like the sexy siren in “Goldfinger” this is absolutely it! Wear it alone, or slick it over another color to add golden glitter that shines like fireworks!
Ruffian Red Classic rich blue red (matte)
SRP $14.50 U.S./$17.50 CDN
RUFFIAN MANICURE:
•Spectator Nails – Cream with black half moon, black french tip and black Ruffian insignia (creme)
Demoiselle Nails – Ruffian red with white half moon and black french tip (creme)
Demilune Nails – Matte black with chrome gold half moon (matte)(matte) *these remind me a bit of the all-gold nails seen a few years ago at a noteable runway show in New York. This version by M-A-C and Ruffian is more elegant than flashy, with the gold half-moons at the bottom instead of the more expected top as in a French Manicure. If the entire set is too much for you, try using just one at a time, as an “accent nail.” This celebrity look is eye catching without being over the top flashy! The press-ons really do stay put unless you’re doing heavy work.
SRP $25.00 U.S./$30.00 CDN

Demilune Nails look totally lust worthy. I’m really excited about this range, especially for Ruffian Red and Nuded Pale lipsticks.
Wonderful work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web.
Shame on Google for not positioning this post higher!
