The holiday weekend is here…the unofficial start of Summer. And yes, the sun is really getting stronger now…time to really get seriously about protecting your skin. Sometimes I fall for goofy gadgets. One that’s low tech, clever, and useful, is Vizini®, a totally strapless sun visor. But if you have a hairstyle that will be ruined by a hat, and you still want to keep your eyes and face shaded from the sun, the Vizini®will be your new, “go-to” gadget.

What it is, actually, is the “beak” part of a baseball hat or visor, it attaches with little, elastic loops, to any pair of prescription glasses or sunglasses. It’s a hat, without the hat!
For thick-framed glasses, use only the red loops – or – use only the black loops. For thin-framed glasses, use both loops. Simply thread the earpiece of your glasses through the red loop, then back through the black loop. Slide that side of the Vizini® toward the frames. Thread the other ear piece of your glasses through the loops on the other side. Remember, thread through the red loop, then back through the black loop.It takes a try or two, but it certainly isn’t difficult. You bend the Vizini® not your frames or earpieces.
I had no problem with attaching the visor to my glasses, and it didn’t look goofy. But all was not perfect with the performance of the product. or starters, my small, cats-eye glasses left a noticeable gap in the “beak” which, at certain angles, would let the sun’s rays filter through and not protect my face. In addition, the beak size is no larger than the brim of a baseball cap, which isn’t going to shield all of your face as effectively as a wide, brimmed sun hat or a lot of good SPF lotion. Vizini® does not fit the tight-fitting, circular glasses that wrap around the eye area and isn’t recommended for frameless, ultra-thin, flexible, wire glasses.
In all honestly, I see this more as an alternative product for those times when you really can’t pack a hat, or don’t want to wear one. I don’t really see it as a substitute for more substantial head gear. But the flat design means you can tuck it into a tote or suitcase, without bulk, so it’s great for travel. It is available in solids and also in bright prints so you can have a lot of different styles to affordably accessorize all your outfits. I think it’s also a good choice for kids who simply won’t keep a hat on their heads, but who wear glasses, or will rock a pair of cool shades. If you find hats annoying, or visors give you headaches from the pressure on your temples, Vizini® is just the thing. Each Vizini® is $9.99 – about as much, or less, than you would pay for a hat or visor. And, of course, sun protection is priceless!
