Sometimes the most affordable and accessible products for hair and skin, surprise you. One such brand is: Say Yes To – brand products contain organic fruits and veggies and other natural ingredients that help to hydrate and pamper your skin. Each one of the collections: Yes to Carrots, Yes to Tomatoes, Yes to Cucumbers, Yes to Baby Carrots and the newest, Yes to Blueberries, address a variety of skin care needs. All are free of parabens, petrolatum and other harsh chemicals. The prices are healthy, and the prices are under $20.00. A portion of the profits also goods to the Yes to carrots Seed Fund, a 501C3 non profit that helps to make a difference with school gardens for kids. There are quite a few products, but I’ve “picked” (sorry, I couldn’t help a garden reference) a basket of good-for-your-skin “veggies” you don’t have to even eat, to see the benefits. Here are the four major Yes to – collections:
Yes to Carrots caters to those with normal to dry skin and hair, featuring carrots, shea butter and sweet almond
Yes to Cucumbers caters to those with sensitive skin and color-treated hair, featuring cucumbers, aloe vera, and green tea
Yes to Blueberries caters to those with age-damaged or mature skin, featuring blueberries, cotton thistle, a paracress flower
Yes to Tomatoes caters to those with acne-prone skin, featuring tomatoes, witch hazel, and salicylic acid
For Your Eyes Only: The longest and darkest day of the day (December 21st, the Winter solstice) has passed, but the days are still darn dark, and many people find that it is hard to get enough rest. If your eyes are showing signs of fatigue, the “Say Yes To Blueberries (each $19.99 0.5 fl. oz) line has an Eye Firming Treatment and a nifty, Brightening Eye Roller, and Say Yes to Cucumbers has a Soothing Eye Gel ($14.99) you may want to check out.
The Yes to Bluberries Brightening Eye Roller is in my favorite form, a non-messy, totally tote-able, terrific roller ball packaging. It has has some blueberry leaf extract (a powerful antioxidant), Horse Chestnut (a natural botanical that helps improve the appearance of dark circles by stimulating circulation and blood flow), plus Bearberry Extract (an anti-oxidant rich botanical that helps brighten dark circles by inhibiting melanin production), and the ability to help reduce dark circles that make you look tired. It is supposedly 99% natural, too. While I didn’t adore the sweet scent, I did like the results.
The Yes to Blueberries Eye Firming Treatment has blueberry juice, plus paracress flower (to deal with smoothing lines and crow’s feet –supposedly in 28 days), plus beeswax to soften, and olive fruit oil to help regenerate skin cells and attract moisture to the skin (that under-eye area has no oil glands and can tend to get very dry). It feels really hydrating and soothing on the skin. This rich cream is dispensed nicely in a small pump bottle, but it is very emollient, so don’t pump too much!
Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Eye Gel works with green tea and chamomile (and cucumber extract) to tighten and soothe skin, while spirulina and dead sea minerals do a multitude of things to moisturize, de-puff, and fortify skin cells. It’s also in a 1 fl. oz. pump bottle so you can get it past the TSA without the fear of having it confiscated.
On a larger scale for a much larger area of skin–your body, there are some nice, note-able, Yes to Carrots moisturizers. The Yes to Carrots Intense Hand Cream ($8.99 3 oz.) comes in a flip top tube, and really helps very dry skin, especially during the drying Winter months. It features organic carrots, Allantoin and Soybeans to soothe dry, itchy skin, attract and retain moisture, and nourish and soften skin. It manages to provide heavenly hydration but not be greasy.
The Yes to Carrots Intense Repair Body Lotion arrives in a pump bottle ($12.99 10 oz) or a travel-friendly 6 oz flip-top tube ($9.99). No matter which packaging you choose, you’ll find that this 99% natural lotion absorbs quickly but does a big job of hydrating, soothing, and pampering super-dry skin, thanks to organic carrots, soybrean, allantoin, and hydrating primrose oil. It is really quite impressive, especially for the price!
For those with sensitive skin I like the nicely hydrating Yes to Cucumbers Hypoallergenic Body Lotion ($7.99 6 fl. oz). The flip top tube contains a lightweight body lotion that Yes To – claims is 98% natural, and it’s dermatologist-tested so even sensitive skin can enjoy it’s benefits. The key ingredients in this rich but almost gel-like lotion are: Aloe Vera, Cucumbers, Green Tea, and very hydrating Jojoba Oil. It feels like it will be really heavy, but it is light and absorbs quickly, making it a perfect choice to share with the entire family. You can’t beat the price, either.
Yes To – products are easily available at mass market retailers and also on the Yes To Carrots Web Site
