Laura Mercier’s “Cinema Noir” collection, is a Fall beauty boon, inspired by Hollywood stars of the 1940’s (the era in which black and white film transitioned into colour). The photo for Cinema Noir entices me. The model makes a strong statement but where there’s drama, there is also a lot of sensuality. If this photo doesn’t make you want to run to your nearest Laura Mercier counter to check out the collection, I don’t what what would!
According to the press literature: “Eyes wear muted shades in smoky mixes of teals and chocolates, blended together to create a true sultry appeal. Lashes are long and voluminous tipped in burgundy, defining and enhancing the eyes. Lips have a creamy soft finish in shades of roses and mauves, while cheeks are luminous and glowing. Nails are painted in soft shades of nude and cocoa.”
Here is the rundown of the items in the collection:
Eye Colour Duet $22.00 Mystere, Suspense
Tightline Cake Eye Liner $22.00 Deep Teal, Ground Espresso
Long Lash Mascara $24.00 Burgundy
Shimmer Bloc $38.00 Starlet Mosaic
Nail Lacquer $18.00 Cocoa Suede, Organza, Nude Silk
Crème/Shimmer Lip Colour $24.00 Passion Fruit, Tea Rose, Raspberry Sorbet, Fresh Brown
My personal experience with this collection is limited to the Cocoa Suede Nail Lacquer ($18.00) . Screen queens needs beautifully manicured nails with long-lasting, chip-resistant, protective color and high shine. Laura Mercier delivers it in three shades: Cocoa Suede, Nude Silk, and Organza. The ultrasmooth pigment slides on like silk, even in one coat, and dries very quickly. Cocoa Suede applies smoothly in one coat (you’ll probably want two coats for longer wear) and it honestly felt like I was applying melted milk chocolate directly onto my fingernails…who could resist?!
