I didn’t know that L’Oreal had a green initiative, but their Serie Nature line of hair care products from Loreal Professional are designed to minimize the effect of products on the environment. Who Knew?! And isn’t it great?!
There are four different collections, consisting simply of a shampoo, and a hair “Masque” (conditioner). All the products in this line are infused with naturally derived ingredients, and targeted to specific hair types. The products don’t just protect the environment around us, they protect your hair, too. I like the packaging: recyclable and in some cases, made with recycled materials. If you want to support “green” initiatives, and you want natural products, this is a line you’ll want to know more about.
Serie Nature Source De Richesse Shampoo $23.00 8.45 fl. oz, has a long name, and it’s formulated for people with dry hair. The sulfate free shampoo gently cleanses with a nice lather, and no hash chemicals. I can’t go into all of the ingredients in this product, but it has antioxidant properties thanks to tomato lycopene. The plastic bottle with green flip top is also 100% recyclable plastic and, ree of sulfates, parabens and silicone. A Masque Richesse $33.00 will add a light fragrance and softness while treating your hair, gently.
Loreal Serie Nature Douceur D’Huiles $23.00 8.45 fl. oz. comes in a clear, amber bottle with green flip top cap that is 100% recyclable plastic and made of 100% recycled PET plastic. This shampoo is meant to tame the savage beast of wild, unruly, thick hair — and it does. It has key ingredients (natural, of course) of bran oil and olive oil. The shampoo didn’t lather nearly at all, but it did cleanse my hair, even though it was full of hard to remove styling products. The Masque Aux Huiles has 100% natural colors and fragrances, and I liked it a great deal. Some masques for unruly hair simply weight strands down with silicone or grease, but this one lets your natural body shine through without being frizzy or crazy. A dollop of this light cream in a jar with mousse-like feel, distributed from roots to ends and left on for three minutes, made my hair super soft, too.
Serie Nature Abondance De Cacao $23.00 8,45 fl, oz. is designed for people with just the opposite situation: fine or limp hair . Infused with the natural ingredient of cacao, this shampoo gives hair lift and volume, while gently cleansing it. There are no silicones, artificial colors and the shampoo will charm you with a light smell of dark chocolate. It is also packaged in 100% recyclable plastic. If your hair is thin and limp, you don’t want to add more weight to make it even more sad…and this shampoo will cleanse and give it some body!
The only one I didn’t try was Purete Naturelle Shampoo. It has horsetail plant extract known for it’s antioxidant properties, good for everyday use on all hair types. It is also paraben and silicone free, 100% natural color and fragrance, and 99% of the total ingredients are from natural origin (so says the press literature).
There are also three in-salon treatments from this line: Huile Richesse $15.00 is a treatment for very dry hair, Fig Cataplasme $25.00 is for sensitized hair, and Ginseng Cataplasme $25.00 treats color treated hair.
