There is absolutely nothing that gets you in the holiday spirit faster than the Radio City Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes and a host of others, including real life camels, sheep and a serene donkey, plus “Santa” and his elves. Although I am a native New Yorker, I didn’t actually see this annual holiday show, that draws visitors from around the world, until I was in my twenties and a boyfriend took me on a date to see it. But yesterday my willing husband, John Dunham, ventured out in the morning to take some photographs of the Rockette’s supporting players. These are their four-legged friends, the camels, the sheep, and the donkey, walking with their handlers to the Radio City Music Hall Stage Door at 44 West 51st Street between 5th and 6th Avenue, as they begin to practice for their beloved roles in the “living nativity” at Radio City Music Hall.
The photos below are thanks to John Dunham — I hope you enjoy them!
The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime, so don’t wait until you are an adult to see it (unless you are already an adult and you haven’t seen it yet). It’s a wonderful way to treat a child to something very special, too.
