Eyes may be the windows to the soul, but hands, are one of the most expressive parts of the body. Your hands and your nails are a sure way to easily express yourself, through the magic of nail polish and nail art. If you change your mood or your mind, it’s easy enough to remove polish and put on something new, almost like putting on a new face!
In the old days, the choices were pretty much limited to solid or sheer colors. Then glitter and metallics, and even magnetic polishes let women express their love of color and style simply by wiping on a new nail polish. Technology has enabled even an over-scheduled DIY-er to quickly and easily create nail looks that are nothing short of mini works of art. One new nail polish by Sally Hansen that is definitely going to turn heads, is the Lustre Shine Nail Color Collection ($7.99.each).
This collection features eight nail polish shades ranging from blues and pinks and copper, to metallics and glitter. What they all have in common is opalescent color that is rich and elegant, thanks to an infusion of real silver. They really gleam in every type of light. In fact, they remind me a lot of coveted, Tiffany Glass.
Imagine, the lustre of Tiffany Glass for your nails! Whether you’re into the colors of a peacock feather, or a seashell, or a sexy copper, each color is designed to capture the light and will give you a prismatic effect that is utterly new. In fact, two of the colors: luminous Scarab (looks just like the antique, Tiffany glass scarabs) and Copperhead, were inspired by Tracy Reese’s Fall 2012 color collection palette and they were worn in her Fall 2012 runway show during New York Fashion Week. The other shades are equally swoon-worthy: include Lava, Moonstone, Firefly, and Plume
Each color is truly dazzlingly different and the formulas vary. “Lava,” for example, reminds me literally of the lava I saw flowing down the hillside in Hawaii from Kilauea one of the most active volcanoes on Earth. It has shades of red and gold, infused with enough glitter to shine in sunlight or at a club. The bottle in the photo is more red, but lava is more a red/gold/amber and it’s gorgeous. Depending upon how you look at your nails they will look more glittery red, or glittery gold. The formula is fairly sheer, but a few coats makes a statement. But for opacity and one-coat coverage you can’t beat “Copperhead,” a glowing iridescent copper that also has a lot of dimension and metallic charm.
Lustre Shine is about to launch, in October so you don’t have long to wait. Lustre Shine is my pick for a must-have glam item that won’t set your budget into shock, thanks to Sally Hansen! Check out the entire collection at your favorite drug store and mass retailer, or at www.sallyhansen.com
