Who doesn’t love choosing a beauty product? But it’s even better when it is truly special, either in it’s packaging, or in it’s benefits (hopefully both). In addition, if it’s a limited edition, it’s collectible. Finally, find one that meets all of these requirements, and also “gives back,” and you need to RUN and get it, right away.
This Summer, that special, limited edition, beauty product that you must have, is Eudermine Revitalizing Essence by Shiseido ( $60.00 3.3 fl. oz).

A Virtual Wishing Tree
Shiseido is celebrating their 140th anniversary in a big way. They’re launching a virtual Wishing Tree on their Facebook page where fans can make their “wish for the world.” For every 140 wishes made, Shiseido will plant a Cherry Blossom tree in collaboration with the New York Restoration Project (NYRP). If you’ve ever been to Japan during cherry blossom time, you know how enchanting it is, as if the country has been dipped in pink icing!
Anniversary Gift Set Cosmetic product:
Shiseido is also honoring its first-ever cosmetic product – Eudermine, with a celebratory re-launch in its original 1897 packaging, available for a limited time at www.shiseido.com. As a note, Eudermine’s name brings together the Greek roots for “good” (“eu”) and “skin” (“derm”). That makes a lot of sense.
It’s not like Shiseido lacks for amazing products, but this one is iconic. In fact, it was quite unusual to have this sort of Western-style bottle being offered in Japan, way back when. But it’s truly beautiful. No wonder women coveted it then, as now.
This anniversary version of Eudermine arrives in a brushed metallic cardboard outer box the color of red lacquer, with an old-fashioned floral floral label, rimmed in gold. Inside the red box, there is a flacon of faceted red glass (with larger version of the same, floral label) and a clear, glass “orb” at the top. Japanese characters ring the top of the bottle. It looks like a very precious, magic potion. I love this old fashioned bottle, but the very minimalist version designed more recently by avant-garde designer, Serge Lutens (shown in the right), is nice in it’s own way, too.
Softening Lotion:
Eudermine is an excellent, softening lotion that delivers immediate moisturization to your skin. It helps your skin to stay smooth and supple. Even better, and great for Summer, Eudermine responds to changes in climate, so your skin can be at it’s best, no matter what the weather, where you are, or the season. It is good for all skin types.
How to Use:
To use it, sweep it on morning and night, after you’ve cleansed your face. I used a cotton pad and was surprised to find that this liquid is so light and with such a light scent, that you might not even notice it. The thing that’s unique, is that while it is a “moisturizer” and you can immediately feel the softness happening without any of the greasy, creamy or heavy products that so many of us slather on today. Eudermine won’t interfere with your makeup or SPF products, either. I can just imagine Japanese women going wild over this, even 140 years ago, as they do, today. It’s a really good product. That’s why it has endured for so long.
