A Shiseido preview is always exciting. The company has the most exquisite creams and serums, beautifully packaged, and of course, effective. And, Dick Page, their Artistic Director, comes up with the most amazing makeup colors, inspired by his travels, and the world around him. For Fall 2011, Page has provided eye shadow aficionados with a dozen, dandy, versatile, cream shadows. They arrive in little flower-shaped pots that nod to the Shiseido flower logo. The virtual rainbow of color is exciting, and the formula lets you use a wash of slightly shimmery shadow, or layer it on for an intense look.
As the preview, editors got a chance to hear Page talk about his inspiration for each color in an iPod audio tour (so high tech!). Page is inspired by so many things, including the sights of the City, and even, caviar!. My favorite is Moss, a bright green that looks subtle as a sheer, and bold and trendy with more layers. Green is such a fun color to wear and it flatters every complexion! As you can see from the photo at the top of this feature, however, there is everything from gold to black and you can mix two together to make your own special color. The makeup artist who did my eyes, used caviar (black) and Sable (taupe) to make a really great liner. I am also wearing a Shiseido liquid makeup, a bit of bronzer, and a Shiseido lipstick (not new, but I’m in love with it ) called “Salon.” It’s the perfect compromise between pink and red for a bold lip that’s not crazy.
Here’s the entire eyeshadow lineup (see the photo at the top of this article). Don’t these colors look amazing?!!!

Another interesting product that Shiseido gave editors to try out is a new, slanted, flat-topped makeup brush. This brush is ideal for applying all sorts of liquid and cream foundations. Although you can certainly use your fingertips, or a sponge, this new brush makes it much easier to apply foundation perfectly smoothly. It also allows you to get into nooks and corners where you want to add a bit more coverage. The result is a more flawless complexion – it’s a must-have tool.
There were also two skincare products to take a peek at: Bio-Performance Advanced Super Revitalizing Cream $75.00 1.5 fl. oz (and there’s a larger size, too) isn’t brand, spanking new, but it has serious devotees. It has been improved. The focus of this rich, peachy, lightly and elegantly fragranced cream, is to prevent the first signs of wrinkles. Shisedo’s patent-pending Bio-Revitalizing Complex reinforces skin’s elastic fibers, the key to promoting skin’s resilience and firmness.
The “big wow” as it was advertised, is a brand new serum: Future Solution LX Ultimate Regenerating Serum.. You can’t help but ogle the gorgeous, gold packaging. It is a nod to Shiseido’s Japanese heritage, and it feels almost alive in the palm of your hand. But it is what’s inside that counts. In a nutshell, this product is supposed to help with the skin’s moisture, while protecting it and strengthening it from environmental aggressors. It has a host of special ingredients. The key is “Signature Skingenecell 1P,” that helps to decrease the amount of cell-damaging Serpin B3 that compromises skin’s natural ability to maintain optimal cell turnover and restore DNA damage. and exclusive, “Condensed Capsule Technology” creates a unique texture and allows for a higher concentration of Skingenecell 1P for maximum benefits. In time, your skin becomes more resistant to signs of damage, stress and age. It also has “Soft Glow Powder” that uses photo-luminous technology to immediately even skin tone for flawless, radiant skin. One ounce is $225.00 so this big wow comes with a big price tag. Shiseido has a little device that measures how much water you have/lost in your skin. My skin has a little less moisture than the average, but I have dry skin. I tried a bit of the serum on my hand. It was light and absorbed quickly, and my skin immediately felt softer, smoother and more hydrated. Shiseido claims their studies show that 90% of women saw a difference within one day, and a big difference in four weeks. I’ll believe it.
