In super-stylist Guido’s Spring 2012 hair trend report for Fashion Week, he said that you don’t have to totally change your hairstyle to be trendy. Just show that you’ve made an effort. Guido suggested adding a pretty clip or a headband as an instant way to change things up. Forward to 2020 and we’re all wearing masks that cover the bottom part of our faces. So making an effort with your hair is even more important. Add a piece (or several) items of “hair jewelry” and make your look, new and exciting! I love the new and exciting hair accessories from BelleFixe!
BelleFixe Hair Jewelry Collections:
At a virtual event featuring stylists Linh Nguyen and Stacey Ciceron and BelleFixe founder Kate Hillebrand, editors got a chance to see the BelleFixe Cocktail Collection and see the stylists work magic on some actual models.
BelleFixe also has a Basics Leisure Collection (muted colors, sustainable bamboo fabrics) and an Island Collection: Ibiza (multi-colored), Bermuda (bright green and white) Nantucket (blue and red), and Capri (colorful brights).
Belle Fixe Cocktail Collections:
The Cocktail collection consists of four different and distinct color palettes: Rose (rose and pearl), Prosecco (gold and metallics). Moscow Mule (copper and soft copper iridescent) and Martini (black and crystals). Each features various hair ornaments including sophisticated scrunchies, decorated hair ties, decorated bobby pins, soft head wraps, and traditional hairbands.
There is really no way I can pick a favorite. Everything is of high quality (but affordable) and stunning! You can mix and match the collections, use just one piece, or do as the stylists suggested and pile on several different items to make a head-turning look.
The Martini Collection is definitely a “night on the town” assortment with glittery clips and black satin. The black velvet scrunchie is elegant. Additionally, use the elastics festooned with ornaments to tie up a ponytail or secure a bun. If your hair is very long, add these or the hair ties to a braid.
The small scrunchie in black satin with “tails” looks cute on a ponytail or bun. Add the glittery clips in your hair as well, to add some bling.
Moscow Mule Collection:
The Moscow Mule collection is great for redheads (copper vessel in my photo not included!). Turn heads by wearing the head wrap. Wear it on your forehead for a flapper look, or with an updo or ponytail, or just as-is.
One great tip I learned from both the stylists is how to keep a fabric hairband or headwrap from slipping or falling off. Add a decorated bobby pin (or a bunch of them) to either side of the fabric.
I tried it with the head wrap in the photo above (left side) using embellished bobby pins from the Martini collection above. It stayed put, comfortably, all day!
Prosecco and Rose Collections:
Prosecco (top photo) and Rose (bottom photo) are super-feminine and can easily be mixed and matched. Wear these items for after-work get-togethers, date night, or when you’re with your special someone.
These two BelleFixe collections contain some of my favorite items. The slim rhinestone-studded hairband is an easy way to glitz up every day. I love the embellished clips and glittery bobby pins in Prosecco’s collection.
The Rose Collection has really beautiful hairbands. Unique to this collection are two spiral bun holders topped with large pearls that really keep an updo in place.
The pink and pearl headband will make you feel like a princess!
Each collection is sold as individual pieces. However, the best news is that nothing in the BelleFixe Cocktail Collection is more than $18 with many pieces around $12-$15. Every piece looks like it costs a lot more than it does, and they are all of great quality. You will wear them for years to come. I hope BelleFixe makes even more collections!
