Little Beauties: Save the Skin You’re In With These Products

Skincare Beauties From Baebody:

I’m a big fan of Baebody skin and hair care products. In fact, I’ve never tried a product that Baebody makes that I didn’t personally like. Therefore, now that it’s Summertime I’m thankful for Baebody’s Hyaluronic Facial Serum. My skin has dry patches. Fortunately, the serum’s key ingredients of Hyaluronic acid, Vitamin E and C, and Jojoba Oil.  It is like an instant drink of moisture for dry skin. 

 

I also love the Baebody Eye Gel that treats the delicate skin near your eye with a Peptide Complex & Soothing Aloe to make that area better, too.

 

These products are vegan and cruelty-free. They have no fragrance, no stickiness, and no parabens. It’s so easy to make a difference in your skin, immediately!  It’s just a very welcome and intense hydration that you can see and feel. I like the dropper tip and the glass bottle that keeps the serum, fresh. And speaking of fresh, the .5 oz. tube of Baebody Eye Gel is the perfect travel size.

 

After a long flight, you’ll really need it. But you’ll want to use it every day at home, as well. It is a small tube with a lot of good-for-your-skin ingredients. The peptide complex enhances collagen production. Matrixyl 3000  helps to reduce fine lines & wrinkles. But there is also Vitamin E to moisturize along with jojoba Oil and an Amino Acid Blend. Like the facial serum, it deeply hydrates just about instantly. If your skin is sensitive, do a patch test. However, my skin is super-sensitive and while it isn’t your skin, I can happily say that I didn’t see any issues with it. I did see smoother, hydrated skin though!

Blue Lizard Sunscreens Protect Your Skin (Reefs, too):

I love lizards. But the lizard I’m writing about here isn’t a lizard at all, it’s Blue Lizard Mineral Sunscreen from Australia! At the time I’m writing this, Blue Lizard has eight different types of sunscreens: Active, Baby, Face, Kids, Sensitive, Sensitive Face, Sheer, and Sport.

Blue Lizard is named after a chameleon that changes color to protect itself. The name comes from the fact that the caps of the Blue Lizard Sunscreen bottles change color in UV light to remind you that what you can’t see can still hurt you. There are physical (chemical) sunscreens and mineral sunscreens. Blue Lizard has paraben-free mineral sunscreen.s

No Residue, and Good for Your Skin:

The Face version also has good for your skin hydrating hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, vitamin E, and shea butter.  The Body sunscreen has skin-smoothing shea butter, antioxidants, and vitamin E

One of the things I don’t love about some otherwise very good sunscreens is the white residue on my skin. Therefore, Blue Lizard Sheer Lotion SPF 50 for the face ($16/1.7 fl. oz) and one for the body (3 oz./$18) are my new favorites. The actives in both of these products housed in slim tubes are 9% titanium dioxide and 6% titanium dioxide. 

How to Use:

Shake the tubes before applying this reef-safe mineral sunscreen. Although I didn’t notice a problem with my tests, there is a notice on the box that the products might stain some fabrics. I’d suggest trying these on something that isn’t too light in color first. The unscented lotions are pleasant to use. 

Sarna Original When Your Itch is a B…h:

Bug Bites, dry skin, sunburn, poison ivy/oak/sumac–ugh, itch it!  Welcome to the wonders of Summer. But if you’re itching, quit bitching (sorry I couldn’t help myself). Sarna Original is something that really works to keep the scratching, from scarring (or just driving you crazy). The large pump bottle is just usually $8-$16 depending on where you buy it.  I found the 7.5 oz bottle on Amazon for under $10. 

Some naysayers don’t relish the scent, because it has soothing,  cooling camphor and menthol (Camphor 0.5%, Menthol 0.5%). Consider, however, that Sarna Original has over 3,500 five-star ratings. That’s because it works, and works fast. It’s also free of parabens and steroids.

Are You Sensitive?

There is also a version for sensitive skin. Although I fall into that category, the Sarna Original didn’t bother me. However,  if you aren’t sure, get the sensitive version.  Personally, I like that scent! Use it as often as you need and you’ll start feeling better. Scent Beauties From Urthy Scents are Toxin-Free:

Urthy Scents is a luxury scent company specializing in products for home, bath, and body products. It was created by Ali and Jen,  two sisters who needed to use clean products without phthalates and that are toxin-free. But some of the fragrances (in candles, etc.) gave them headaches. So they created their own, products with natural scents.

Kwench Body Scrub:

The product I tried was their Kwench Body Scrub in “Blushing Goddess” ($38). Inside a screw-top jar with a lovely (and included bamboo scoop spoon) is a sugar scrub. The scent has florals and orange blossoms with a bit of black ginger, ylang-ylang, and sandalwood. There’s also a hint of bamboo and creamy powder. I personally don’t like scents that are overly floral, but I have to admit that it’s very pretty. If you like feminine floral fragrances, you’ll find this particular scrub to be a spa-ah moment!

For those who might not really love truly floral fragrances, there are a whopping 27 different body scrubs to choose from! For those who need to know, the products are vegan, silicone, formaldehyde, phthalates, and, mineral oil-free. 

 

The scrub is a powerful one with camomile, shea butter, MCT Oil (an emollient product of coconut oil), hydrating papaya and jojoba oils, and pomegranate seeds  (hydrating and sealing in moisture). If you self-tan exfoliating your skin well before applying the product is a must. But for everyone else, a weekly body scrub keeps your skin healthy and glowing.
