Lately, advicesisters.com has received a lot of new skincare brands. Most of these are vegan, clean beauty, etc. It’s always exciting to try something I’ve never tried before. I’m skincare obsessed! However, because I know you also love skincare and skincare reviews, here are two newbies (hims and hers, and Hand Over Heart) with the first review on advicesisters.com. Weleda has been on our beloved list for many years. These are all reasonably affordable, too.
Welcome hims and hers Skincare:
Hims and hers is a company with a variety of products including those for sexual and mental health, and supplements. But they have launched a line of skincare products for hims and for hers. I requested sunscreen and a moisturizer from the new hers skincare collection.
In this advicesisters.com skincare reviews story, I’m just focusing on two of the new hers skincare products.
Hydrobounce Instant Moisturizer:
The Hers Hydrobounce Instant Moisturizer is a daily use moisturizing cream. It arrived in a screw-top jar. I much prefer other delivery systems that you don’t have to stick your fingers in. This cream isn’t pretty liquid, so I really don’t understand why hims and hers didn’t consider different packaging to help keep products from being contaminated.
On the plus side, the cream itself is super light, unscented, and pleasant to use. If you like the way a moisturizer feels, you’re more likely to use it, so that’s a plus. The key ingredients include hyaluronic acid, squalene, and probiotics. It’s also vegan, paraben and cruelty-free.
hers Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50:
I also tried the HERS (actually for HIMS too) Multi-Screen SPF 50: It’s a 100% mineral sunscreen. That’s a good thing. Additionally, the unisex broad-spectrum sunscreen arrives in a pump bottle to make application easier and cleaner.
Sunscreen is subjective to a certain degree. My personal favorite is an effective SPF 50 like this one that absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave any greasy residue. The active is 12% Zinc Oxide. Plant-based squalene (for moisturization), and allantoin (for skin sensitivity) make it a nice sunscreen. At $22/1 fl. oz. you might find cheaper alternatives, but this one really is nice to use. You can get a subscription of 2 bottles every 4 months for just under $20. I’m not a fan of subscription skincare as your needs may change. However, if you like this very nice sunscreen you’ll use a lot of it. You’ll save money and your skin!
As with everything we write, we caution you to check with your doctor if you see something on a website and you’re not sure it’s right for you. You can order through their app or online. Hims and hers skincare products are now available at select CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide and on ForHims.com and ForHers.com.
Wonderful Weleda Unscented:
Weleda is one of my favorite brands. The company believes that people are part of nature. Conducting business in harmony with nature and people has been Weleda’s trailblazing approach for the last century. That is why they’re a beloved staple in so many homes.
I love fragrance, but not always in my skincare. That’s why I’m happy to say that Weleda has launched an unscented Hand Cream to coordinate with its new Unscented Body Motion.
The hand cream is 1.7 fl. oz. of pure joy. it’s fragrance and ethyl Alcohol-free. Jojoba oil moisturizes while Thehalose traps moisture in the skin.
The Weleda Unscented Body Lotion arrives in a flip-top bottle and has the same cooling effect on your skin as the hand cream. My flaky dry skin immediately looked like it had blossomed back to life. impressive! lightweight formula soaks in quickly leaving not a drop of residue. It’s simple and it works, and I love it!
Weleda is all about nature, and these formulas are certified Natural by NATRUE. They’re also made with vegan-friendly ingredients, fragrance-free, ethyl alcohol-free, and ideal for normal to sensitive skin. The unscented Body Lotion can claim the same.
Jojoba is a featured ingredient. Weleda’s jojoba comes from an Argentinian frame owner with whom Welda has had a long-standing partnership. . Borage Seed Oil helps calm dry, itchy, and irritated skin. Coconut oil is a skin softener that Weleda says also has a cooling effect. I did feel it as I smoothed on the hand cream. However, what was really cool is the way it made my day, dull skin come back to life.
What’s not in the products:
These days everyone lists what is not in their products. But Weleda’s don’t have parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, and preservatives. This makes them great for sensitive skin. But of course, they are for everyone. Furthermore, Weleda doesn’t do any animal testing.
You can find Weleda on their website, among other places: https://www.weleda.com/
Welcome Hand Over Heart Skincare:
Hand Over Heart Skincare is new to advicesisters.com. It’s an all-natural vegan lifestyle brand.
As with hims and hers, Hand over Heart offers a variety of products. They call themselves a lifestyle brand because they have products for everyone from babies and kids to skin and hair care, household items, and even some products for pets.
The products feature good for your skin vitamins and compounds such as Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Resveratrol, alpha-hydroxy acid. I like the fact that everyone in the family can use Hand Over Heart with no fear of “bad stuff” in the products.
Pure Cleansing Bar
Although I mentioned above that I don’t always like scents in my skincare, I do like it when it’s pleasing and unobtrusive. The Hand Over Heart Pure Cleansing Bar smells like a bright, freshly squeezed orange with a touch of pampering lavender. I’d wear it as a fragrance if the company had one. The soap is made with 100% non-toxic ingredients including organic coconut oil and oils of orange, lavender, and rosemary. This is just so so so good!
I liked the Pure Hydrating Shampoo with Seaberryh and Rose. However, I was happy to see that the rose shampoo with aloe vera and coconut oil wasn’t redolent of rose scent. In fact, I could barely smell any scent at all. It lathered nicely and rinsed out easily. It did its job. But what makes this shampoo particularly good is that even people with sensitive skin can use it. The Hand over Heart Website lists a huge list of what isn’t in their products. However, I’ll list the NOs for this one: no sulfates, eye-numbing agents, toxins, parabens, phosphates, petrolatums, animal by-products, synthetic fragrances, dyes, or caustic agents.
I’m showing you a trio of products in my photo above. The last one is the Safe and Lime Deodorant. I had planned to use this separately, but since I’m writing about Hand Over Heart for the first time on advicesisters.com I’m including it. I haven’t tested it yet, so you’ll have to wait for my “body odor” story to get all the details. But I can tell you that it smells like a margarita with tons of fresh lime squeezed in it. Again, this is one of those times when the scent makes it very special.
