We Smell Your Archetype!

This is Michael Sheen as Dr. William Masters and Lizzy Caplan as Virginia Johnson in Showtime’s Masters of Sex.
One of the things that sex researchers Bill Masters & Virginia Johnson wanted to do in the 60’s was to help create a fragrance that would enhance desire. Virginia Johnson had a love affair with the man from IFF that they collaborated with, but the pheromones she sent out weren’t from a bottle. The fragrance was a flop. Today, pheromone scents do exist, but the ones not chemically created in a lab are created by each individual person, and they spin off, invisibly from our bodies, as we move. They’re a natural, odorless chemical that your body releases to boost your attractiveness and enhance your relationships. Human pheromones can’t or smelled directly, but they can be discerned by others.
There is a science behind using pheromones in fragrance, and not all of these pheromone scents are meant as “love magnets.” For example, the Archetypes Pheromone Fragrance Collection Eau de Parfum (each $64.00 1.7 fl. oz. ) is designed to enrich your life and nudge you back into balance, lift your mood, calm your mind and help create powerful connections. The term archetype is used in psychology to mean an idealized model of a person, behavior or personality.
The Archetypes Pheromone collection fragrances are made with advanced pheromone technology and naturally aromatherapeutic essential oils. The way this company has created their scents, they’re designed to bring out your dominant Archetype. You might naturally know that you are an advocate/activist who works to make positive change in the world, or perhaps you are a rebel, who lives to break rules, maybe you’re the quintessential Creative, Athlete, Rebel, Caregiver, Visionary, Performer?? There are a number of Archetypes to choose from. If if you’re not sure which is your dominant one, you can take the quiz on the Archetypes web site. If that’s too much trouble, Archetypes suggests looking for inspiration to the four fabulous women from Sex and the City: Do you recognize some of yourself in Carrie, the Creative? She was a fashionista and shoe fanatic who wrote about her longings to find true love? Maybe you’re more like Miranda, the Intellectual/Advocate who believed what she could see/prove, and liked a good cause? Samantha, the Rebel/Queen broke rules to show that she was the one in charge. Do you see yourself in Charlotte, the Royal Princess and Caregiver who longed for a baby?
I received Tastemaker/Influencer and Advocate/Activist for review. Neither are my personal archetype, but Tastemaker/Influencer reminded me of the first fragrance I ever wore, which was 4711. The key notes (in Tastemaker) are black lavender and neroli petal — spicy, floral, citrus-y drying down to what feels like a unisex “green” scent. The fragrance notes for 4711 are a secret but it also has bergamot, lemon, and orange plus lavender and rosemary and also Neroli. Advocate/Activist features bergamot and orange blossom. The scent is feminine, but the burst of orange up front is bright, drying down to a more bitter orange with the bergamot as a lingering reminder that activists are energetic, and make a statement.
Check out the Archetypes Web Site and you can amuse yourself with all sorts of information about each archetype (there is a LOT of it) from the sorts of friends you might have, to goals, famous people and much more. Not only is it fun to visit the site, the simple, slim clear column of glass filled with Archetype Eau de Parfum makes a special and personalized gift.
