I discovered STARE Cosmetics at an event for Editors this past Summer called: “The Beauty Edit,” There were a lot of exhibitors with unique products, but STARE Cosmetics had a dazzling display of color cosmetics that really did make me STARE (and in a very good way). Learn more about STARE Cosmetics!

These samples for advicesisters.com are just a few of the STARE Cosmetics available.
The first thing I noticed when on the STARE Cosmetics web site is the dazzling amount of products and colors. This should make beautistas who love to experiment, very happy.
The creators of STARE used their years of working with estheticians specializing in corrective skin issues to create a makeup line designed not to make existing skin conditions worse,
STARE has eliminated as many unnecessary fillers and ingredients as possible. The company doesn’t claim to be all natural or organic but I appreciate any company that is mindful that skin is sensitive and needs TLC.
COSMETICS REVIEW:
Eyeshadow Palettes
A lot of cosmetics companies offer a couple of multi-pan eyeshadow palettes but STARE has 11 5-pan palettes ($45/each).
I selected “California Dreaming” with shimmery and super shimmery earth tones so perfect for every season, but especially Fall.
The triple milled shadows are elegant and easy to apply. They are full of pigment but can be blended out. Some look glittery, others, almost metallic but not over the top. For more drama use them wet or as an eyeliner. Two mini sized dual-ended applicator brushes are included, but I always suggest you use your own full-sized brushes.
Extreme Matte Lip Pen/Lip Prime
STARE Cosmetics offers five different types of lip color, but I love liquid lipstick and the Extreme Matte Lip Pen ($24) is fabulous and truly long lasting minus the “dry lips” issues of long wear lipsticks.
There are 10 bold and beautiful colors of this liquid lipstick. I tried “Hibiscus” a cool cherry red with a lot of pink in it. Even on my warm skin, this one gets tons of positive comments.
Sometimes it’s a great idea to go out of your comfort zone and try a color, formula or tone you normally wouldn’t select.
A lip liner will help your lipstick to last longer and STARE Cosmetics has plenty of colors to choose from. I choose the Lip Prime Pencil ($17).
This lip liner is clear. It’s a primer to keep color from fading and feathering.
Be careful not to press to hard! I did, and the top broke off as I applied it for the first time. Luckily, I just sharpened it back up as I would any lip liner. And yes, the primer really works.
Pressed Mineral Foundation
I love mineral makeup and STARE Cosmetics features several types. While I like the diffused look of loose mineral powder makeup, but not the mess that it can make.
Sometimes choosing the right color foundation can be a bit confusing.
I choose the STARE Cosmetics Pressed Mineral Foundation ($37) in “Warm 3” and there are 8 other shades of light to medium deep. There wasn’t a Warm 1 in this foundation, so be warmed (sorry for the pun) that Warm 2 is the lightest and Warm 6 is the deepest. There is a Cool 1 however. Not sure why this is.
Although it’s not super dry, this does have a matte finish so make sure your skin is moisturized if it’s very dry.
The square compact with an interior mirror and a sponge applicator is attractive. I suggest using a foundation brush that works better than a sponge when trying to adjust the coverage but it’s up to you.
Foundation Stix
For travel, I like the Foundation Stix ($24). These feature a cream-to-powder formula as a solid makeup in a swivel-up stick. additionally, you can use it as a concealer. A bonus is that it has SPF18along with moisturizing Shea Butter and Vitamins A, C and E.
You can really adjust this coverage. A few dots will blur flaws but let your natural skin be showcased, or you can add more, for more opacity. It’s good for all skin types and there are 10 shades with a few on the deeper end,
I tried “Chiffon” which worked well but it would be nice if the warm and cool tones were specifically detailed as with the Pressed Mineral Foundation.
HD Foundation
The STARE Cosmetics HD Liquid Foundation ($40) arrives in pump offering 10 shades of warm tones and 10 shades for cooler skin tones.
I received a sample of Cool 3, and even though my skin tone is warm, it worked ok but if the colors confuse you can test out samples (up to 5 of HD, Sheer Veil or Loose Mineral Foundation for $1/each).
The main feature of this blendable foundation is that it’s water resistant. The website says it’s a medium to full coverage, but I thought it was actually somewhat sheer (maybe I needed to use more).
Like the Foundation Stix, I liked the idea that my skin was visible and that the foundation wasn’t completely opaque.
This is really a great product for when you don’t have time to touch up. It won’t get all over your clothes and you can count on fairly long wear from this lovely liquid makeup.
However, there’s no SPF in these products even though minerals provide a bit…so please apply a sunscreen!
Summary:
I really liked the performance, the range of colors, and the use-ability of STARE Cosmetics. I hope to try more in the future. Meanwhile, if you want to try STARE visit their website https://starecosmetics.com/
