Steal a Moment in Time, With Face Stockholm’s “A Stolen Moment” Collection

September 26, 2012 By: Alison Blackman

One of the brands whose seasonal collections always excite me, is FACE Stockholm. Their makeup collections straddle the fine line between trendy, and totally timeless.  For Fall, 2012, the beautiful new collection is called, appropriately: A STOLEN MOMENT

Inspired by the Jazz Age of the 1920’s and its legacy of sweeping social changes, The FACE Stockholm look for Fall 2012 captures a stolen moment of reflection caught between the past and the future. As you can see from the beautiful photo (doesn’t this model look like a modern Marilyn Monroe?) the focus is all on the lips and eyes.  While the face is moistly-matte, luminous, not overly dewy and not overly matte.  Blush is precisely applied, but with a relatively light touch, to balance out the bolder elements.

This is a look you can make your own no matter what your skin tone or age (amp up the color, or subdue it and it works on everyone).  But you can also take one element (e.g. I love the rich, moistly matte, opaque lipstick called “Matte Secret” in a neutral red that is neither too orange nor two blue.  It is a perfect choice for day and evening and you can wear it now and right through holidays. Tip:  If you want a bold color like Matte Secret to stay put, line your lips and your entire lip area with a pencil, first. FACE Stockholm’s new Lipliner in “Malena” works with this red lipstick very well.

Since this is a limited edition that is only around for the FALL, and we received it a bit “last minute,” I don’t have the time to go into tons of specifics about every product, but you can find them in person at any FACE Stockholm boutique, or at www.facestockholm.com. For me, it’s the lip products that are stellar, but all will be in the permanent collection, so you have time to consider what you want the most (or get the entire look).

When it comes to the eyes, nothing makes more drama than a thick and elegant liner, or a cats eye. “wing” out your eye liner and make a trendy and bold statement. FACE Stockholm Precision Eyelets you create that line as if you’re using a black, super fine line, marker. Her eyes look dramatic, thanks to “Chiffon” pressed powder eye shadow (looks pink on her eye, but it is actually a fleshy nude),  and a “greige” shadow (for definition) called “London Dimma,”  Both shadows are completely matte.   TIP:  To keep your eye shadow lasting longer, and to provide a more even toned surface for your shadow, dab on some of FACE Stockholm’s famous “Eye Fix” in it’s cute little pot, before applying eye makeup.  FACE Luxe Lash Mascara in inky black, finish the look.

Brows are also a big focus, and FACE Stockholm’s brow shadow on this model is “Bjork” but there are different shades if your brows are darker than hers.

FACE Stockholm has a lot of powders and foundations, but their new Fresh Face Foundation provides a light, satin smooth base. For those with pale-ish skin, “Satin” gives a semi-sheer to opaque (depending upon how you apply it) luminous look to the skin. I like the cap with attached paddle, so you don’t have to stick your fingers in the bottle (and therefore contaminate it while getting your fingers messy).  For the model’s photo, and for those with light to medium complexions, her powder blush in “Strawberry” adds a soft, medium pink.  FACE Stockholm’s loose Power sets the look, or just wear the powder alone for a no-makeup look to diminish shine.

London Dimma, our new Matte Shadow, accents a base of Chiffon Matte Shadow around the eye. And a stroke of Luxe Lash and Brow Shadow finishes the look.
