During Breast Cancer Awareness Month last October, I reviewed a novel product called BeautyBlender. It’s a teardrop-shaped sponge, that helps you apply liquid or cream foundation easily and smoothly. The wide part is for most of your face, and the tip of the teardrop helps you get around your nose, eyes, and anywhere else that requires a more specific application. The sponge is also latex free, non-allergenic and odor free. But all beauty tools need to be cleaned, and a sponge that you’re dipping into foundations and putting on your face, really has to be pristine. So BeautyBlender also has a very good liquid cleanser which whisks away dirt and oils, as well as most of the foundation that you don’t want sticking around on your sponge.
However, now there’s a solid cleanser perfect for travel. The Solid Cleanser is $15.95 , or if you wish you can get a BeautyBlender Pure Kit $49.95 with a sponge, mesh pouch (that lets air travel through so bacteria doesn’t form), and the solid cleanser . While I liked the liquid cleanser in a pump-top bottle that really worked to clean off even the most stubborn, oily type of foundation, the solid cleanser still works very well and has the same, lovely lavender scent. Most importantly, since it is a solid form and in a plastic, screw-top jar, you can travel with a sponge to apply your makeup, without fuss or mess. One solid cake should last you for a couple of month, depending upon how often you use it (ideally, you should cleanse your makeup sponges every time you use them). For more information and to get a list of retailers, go to the BeautyBlender website.
The beautyblender® pure™ kit is available now, and the individual products (pure™ sponge, solid™ cleanser and air bag will be available beginning late January 2012.
