It’s been a long while since The Advice Sisters have recommended products from Lierac, but that’s not due to lack of admiration for them. Sometimes, a really good brand just falls beneath your radar for a while when you review lots of products as I do, and then, like a long lost love re-discovered, you re-connect, with great joy. Lierac, a part of the Ales Group, was founded in 1975 as a French dermo-cosmetics brand that specialized in skin disorders and aging. But over time the brand has crafted a lot of truly luxurious and effective products for everyone. The products are upscale, but compared to other brands in the same category, they’re actually reasonably priced. If you care about your skin, but you also want to use products that make you feel pampered, special, and positive, Lierac has plenty of them. I’m including three that I was recently introduced to, and that I think you might want to try this Summer.
Lierac’s Hydra-Chrono+ Intense Rehydrating Balm ($48.00 1.45 oz.) is Emergency Hydration for all skin types. This rose tinted gel is a powerhouse of nourishment, hydration and skin pampering, that “silkens” immediately, with a faint scent of roses. The gel immediately soaks into even dry itchy skin and rehydrates it so dramatically, it reminded me of the unique plant that looks dry, brown and brittle, but when it is doused with water, it becomes alike and green again. This luxurious product contains a 13% hydration reprogramming botanical complex (featuring sacred lotus, white willow and a biotech peptide) to stimulate your skin’s water channels. Key ingredients also include 2.5% antioxidant-rich water hyacinth for detoxifying & purifying benefits and 2% antioxidant rose & cherry flower extracts for hydrating action. Whether you’ve dried out your skin in the sun or not, apply day & night to a cleansed & toned face & neck; or apply a thick layer as an intensive treatment mask. The only thing that I’m still trying to figure out is how long to leave the product on your face as a mask, but honestly, just applying it twice a day shows remarkable hydration, and I was perfectly satisfied.
There are a bunch of other Hydra Chrono products in this line, all designed to rehydrate and pamper your skin. All are focused primarily on treating seriously dehydrated skin, and therefore, a good idea for Summer (and all year round).
Another elegant and luxuriously satisfying product from Lierac is their Mesolift Serum ($60.00 1.1 oz.). I was also sent this one to review from Lierac, and at first I thought: “Oh, just another serum, how nice.” But this one packs a punch that I didn’t expect, and my skin, immediately, responded. The serum contains a “concentrate of radiance” containing a 15% mesolift cocktail, enriched with blood-orange extract, for an immediate and universal “pick-me-up” effect: all skin types, all ages, in any season (but I think, especially in the Summer when your skin is subjected to so many saboteurs).
Lierac prides itself on producing credible research and testing, and they publish their results. So, according to Leirac, the 74% of the women in their study (of 59 women) who used the serum for 28 days has very satisfying result. 78% said that their skin was also better toned. while 74% claimed their skin was more radiant, and 73% said it was more luminous as well as radiant. The study size doesn’t blow me away as being impressive, but after testing the serum personally (your skin is different than mine, but the result really was impressive), and after learning about what is in the serum, I feel not just confident in recommending it, but knowing that it can do good things for your skin.
The serum is housed in a bright orange bottle with pump/dropper top. Actives include 5% Vitamins A,C,W,B5, B6 all of which help to prevent aging and promote cell renewal. The product also contains 5% minerals including iron, calcium, hyaluronic acid, magnesium, copper, and zinc. This mixture of proven, powerful ingredients helps to energize and hydrate skin. The product is light, unscented, and very elegant to use. It’s also not sticky, as some serums can be on your skin. What’s not to like?! The best way to use it is to apply a drop under your daily moisturizer and makeup and then again at night. Massage the serum in from the T-zone, outward. Lierac suggests using this with their Mesolift Cream for additional hydration and radiance, but if you are using another moisturizing product that you like (e.g. the fabulous Hydra-Chrono Hydrating Balm), that might be enough.
…and there’s one more product from Lierac that I was given to try, and now I’m hooked. It comes in a tiny tube (the actual is less than half the size of the tube in this photo), but it’s mighty good: Diopti Cerne Tinted Dark Circle Correcting Cream ($35.00 0.18 oz.). Whether you’ve been out partying late at night, you’re having trouble sleeping, or you are just pre-disposed by heredity to dark circles under your eyes, this might cream concealer covers and brightens. As Lierac puts it, dark circles are caused by a build-up of blood pigments (blue dark circles) or skin pigments (brown dark circles). This little opaque (blend-able) cream tackles both types of dark circles, thanks to a duo of plants with anti-bruising properties, and a de-pigmenting complex that helps to visible reduce dark circles and shadows. You can get this one in a non-tinted version, but the salmon tinted shade really does help to immediate reduce the look of dark circles (the tone will work with most light to medium skin tones) without giving you “raccoon eyes.” It’s not inexpensive considering the size of the tube, but a little of this opaque helper goes a long way. It is one to carry with you when you travel, or pop into your makeup bag for touch-ups, any time. When you find a product as good as this, is isn’t a splurge, it’s a necessity!
