advicesisters.com has posted a how to handle the holidays story for years. But my advice doesn’t change much from year to year. So this year, I asked CHATGPT to write a song about the holidays. Although I didn’t write it, I do think it’s what many people are really thinking! I admit, I’m more grinchy, than most but it did make me laugh! I hope it does the same for you. There will be a CHATGPT song for those who love the holidays too! These are meant to be lighthearted so please don’t send hate mail!
(Verse 1)
The city streets are glowing bright, but there’s darkness in our hearts, A feeling that descends on us when the holiday season starts, It’s not the lights, the gifts, or the songs that fill us up with dread, It’s something deeper, something more, a feeling left unsaid.
(Pre-Chorus) It’s not the joy we all should feel, it’s something quite contrary, A melancholy, heavyweight, that we all seem to carry, But let’s explore these sentiments, let’s sing about the pain, And maybe in our shared despair, we’ll find some peace again.
(Chorus) Oh, we hate the holidays, for reasons hard to say, The pressure and the expectations, they never seem to sway, The loneliness that’s amplified, when everyone’s around, Oh, we hate the holidays, and the sorrow that they’ve found.
(Verse 2)
The dinners and the parties, all blend into one, A sea of forced pleasantries, when all is said and done, We miss the ones who’ve gone away, the ones we used to hold, And in this festive atmosphere, their absence leaves us cold.
(Pre-Chorus) It’s not the joy we all should feel, it’s something quite contrary, A melancholy, burden that we all seem to carry, But let’s explore these sentiments, let’s sing about the pain, And maybe in our shared despair, we’ll find some peace again.
(Chorus) Oh, we hate the holidays, for reasons hard to say, The pressure and the expectations, they never seem to sway, The loneliness that’s amplified, when everyone’s around, Oh, we hate the holidays, and the sorrow that they’ve found.
(Bridge) But in the midst of all this dark, a glimmer we can find, A spark of human kindness, a love that’s undefined, So let’s embrace the ones we have, let’s hold them close and near, And in these simple moments, we might find some cheer.
(Verse 3)\

The holidays, test our hearts, they challenge what we know, But maybe in this struggle, a deeper truth can grow, That love’s not bound by calendar, it’s not confined by time, It’s in the simple acts we do, the rhythm and the rhyme.
(Chorus) Oh, we hate the holidays, for reasons hard to say, The pressure and the expectations, they never seem to sway, The loneliness that’s amplified, when everyone’s around, Oh, we hate the holidays, and the sorrow that they’ve found.
(Outro) So let’s face these days with strength, with hope and love anew, And maybe in our honesty, we’ll find a different view, The holidays can still be hard, but maybe we can see, That in our shared humanity, we’ll find some unity.
