When I think of pharmacies, I think of medicine, health, and wellness, but not necessarily organic products or homeopathic products, and generally not beauty products.
The Organic Pharmacy in NYC’s Greenwich Village at 353 Bleecker Street (there’s one in Los Angeles as well) has health and wellness products that are natural and organic, and they have homeopathic remedies and beauty remedies, as well.
The Organic Pharmacy originated in the UK, with their organic, toxin-free line of makeup, skincare, and herbal supplements.
The store is long and thin, but full of unique and fabulous natural beauty “treasures.”

The Organic Pharmacy is a long, slim space, but the shelves on both sides are full of exciting products
Just a note, Homeopathic medicines are real “remedies” made from natural sources (e.g., plants, minerals), and are environmentally friendly and cruelty-free. Most are available over the counter in grocery stores, drug stores, health food stores, homeopathic pharmacies, and online.
Not everyone is well versed in homeopathic medicine, but that’s where the Organic Pharmacy can help.
The store is staffed with intelligent, well-trained people who are so pleasant, they’ll have you easily understanding and embracing things you might not even look at twice on your own.
While the store stocks cosmetics and other products, at a recent editor’s event, for example, we were told about some of the Organic Pharmacy’s newest products, including one called Environment Beauty Drops (30ML $99.00).
“Beauty Drops” are essentially a homeopathic product you can put directly on your skin with a dropper, add into your own moisturizer (and put it on your skin), or simply ingest it directly (we drank it in our cocktails at the event).
You are supposed to take 5 drops internally daily or add 2-3 drops externally adding it to your cream, serum or mask.
Combined, the three herbs in the Beauty Drops contain over 40 powerful actives including bilberry, ginseng, and Gotu kola. When used with skincare these drops offer antioxidant benefits.
They also help you boost your energy and also help hydrate your skin from within. I didn’t really taste them in my drink, but I’m more likely to mix them in my skincare from now on.
FYI: The Organic Pharmacy products have No Artificial Preservatives, No Artificial Colourants, No Artificial Fragrances, No Petrochemicals, No Animal Testing, Organic Promise & Fair Trade.
Editors were encouraged to try the Carrot Butter Cleanser ($74.00 2.5 oz.) This luxe cleanser applied on dry skin, then removed with an organic muslin cloth ($8.50) that you’ve soaked in hot water. The key ingredients are antioxidant Carrot and Calendula as well as decongesting Rosemary and soothing Lavender.
The cleanser is a bit “overly emollient” but the hot water and textured muslin cloth remove it along with all the dirt, makeup, etc. I’m not a fan of using a cloth (if you do, be sure you clean it thoroughly after each use and hang it to dry) but it is eco-friendly.
I didn’t try any of the actual color cosmetics, but they looked very attractive, with prices comparable to higher end department store.
I’d love to go back and sample some of these. If you’d like to try some of the offerings of The Organic Pharmacy but you don’t live in New York City or you’re not visiting anytime soon, you can order on The Organic Pharmacy Web Site
