Things to be happy about #18: Sunsets
I expected palm trees, the beach, and warm weather when I moved to Longboat Key Florida a couple of months ago. What I didn’t expect, was the beauty of the sunsets.
Some days the sunsets are fiery orange or red. Other times, the clouds cover the sun so you just see the colors reflected in the clouds. Sometimes the sun looks huge. But sometimes, it seems to shrink in size. No matter what kind of sunset it is, it’s always breathtaking.
Watching the sunset has become a nightly ritual for us. If we have time and it’s not too chilly, we try not to miss this special time of day. it’s the time we share together even though we work across the room from each other on a daily basis. But we’re working, so there is little conversation or connection. Once sunset happens, we re-connect with each other and to the beauty around us.
It’s really hard to feel sad when you see sunsets like the ones I’ve photographed above. But you don’t have to be in Florida to enjoy the sunset from wherever you are. Take the time to stop what you’re doing and watch the sun sink down the sky.
Sunsets remind us that no matter what happened today it’s almost over. Tomorrow is another day. That’s why #18 in my Things to Be Happy About series is–Sunsets.
