There’s a lot to be said about this designer’s fall collection of casual, wearable clothes for men and women. His first design, a black leather zippered coat with a silk leaflet patterned gown set the tone for the next 35 models that pride-fully displayed his genius. This impressive collection was quite large, and pleased Timo Weiland fans, and just about everyone else in the audience. Standouts included a cable knit dress with a black sheer jersey and a time-honored black leather bow tie worn by Vanusa.
Timo Weiland’s use of fabrics, (e.g. twills and wool and leather) and range of colors (maroon, grey and black) are easy to like for a daytime wardrobe, employed in classics such as the button down shirt, romper and 5-pocket jean. But a button down shirt paired with green jeans makes that classic design, fresh. Leather embelishments and zippers make a wool plaid jacket more “biker” and less “hiker.”
Sheer grey jersey and leather were the most popular fabrics for this collection. And as the show came to an end with Codie so elegantly wearing a Veruca gown in oxblood velvet with oxblood leather bodice, Weiland left viewers wanting to see more. It’s fame in fashion, at its best.
