Tocca Dry Body Oil in the Cleopatra scent ($54/3.4 fl. oz.) is a treat for your skin and senses. It’s an emollient multi-tasker that also scents your skin with the glorious Cleopatra fragrance. Read why this seductive fragrance is one of my favorites:
Cleopatra, the Queen of the Nile, was a strong woman and a seductress who commanded ships and the hearts of men just as well.
The Tocca Cleopatra fragrance includes some of the notes that she might have loved including grapefruit, luxuriant Egyptian jasmine, and rich Indian patchouli. According to most sources, Cleopatra’s actual perfume was written down in ancient texts as Mendesian. This was one of the most popular scents of the day (I guess in ancient Egypt you could say it was “trending.”).
Anyway, it had notes of (among other things) bitter almonds, cardamom, mastic, myrrh, and camel grass (vetiver). Scientists are actually trying to re-create the scent although some of the “recipe” is a bit ambiguous.
Cleopatra, the fragrance by Tocca, was launched in 2017. It was a collaboration with perfumers Sonia Constant, Ellen Molner, and James Bell. I am sure you will find that it is just as seductive as her own perfume was (way back in the day).
The Fragrance Notes in Tocca Cleopatra:
– Top: bitter grapefruit, greens, cassis bud.
– Middle: white jasmine, peach nectar, tuberose.
– Base: warm patchouli, golden amber, rich vanilla musk.
How to use: Spray directly on the skin. It’s best on moist skin, but you can use it on dry skin as well.
Oil vs Dry Oil (what’s the difference?)
Unlike the tin woodsman in The Wizard of OZ who carried an oilcan, Tocca’s dry oil won’t make your joints stop creaking. Dry oil hydrates your skin but it won’t leave a sticky or greasy residue. This dry oil is an antioxidant-rich dry oil blend of argan, jojoba, and vitamin E. All you will note once you spray dry oil and smooth it on is the soft veil of the scent of Tocca Florence, or whichever Tocca dry oil scent you choose.
In my tests, the dry oil on dry skin smelled amazing and lasted a long time. You can layer it with the Cleopatra fragrance. However, in the warmer months, I think less is more. Save the layering for cooler weather and just enjoy the scent and the luminous glow from the dry oil. If you work in close quarters with other people, or where you are close to others all day (e.g. nursing, teaching) the Tocca dry oil will be great as you can enjoy it and not overwhelm everyone else.
You can also get Tocca dry oil also in Florence, Giuletta and Stella fragrances. For more information visit the Tocca Website
