Are you one of the many who use CBD products to support issues with anxiety, stress relief, pain support from the many hours of traveling, and of course relaxation? If you use these types of products regularly from gummies to beauty products (advicesisters.com CBD reviews) you might wonder if these types of products are safe to travel with. There are some things you should definitely be mindful of.
We spoke with a representative from Sky Wellness – a brand of premium THC-free CBD wellness products – about the legalities of traveling with CBD both domestically and internationally.
First off, it’s important to note that we are only talking about CBD (Cannabidiol). True, this is hemp, but Cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive ingredient in cannabis (derived from the stalk of the male marijuana plant. It doesn’t have any THC (which gives you that that high). Many people swear by CBD products for health and wellbeing.
What’s in Your CBD?
Know what is in your products. In 2018 the US passed the Farm Bill which made CBD legal across the country, in every state and removed it from the TSA’s list of banned substances. So as long as your item is THC-free, you can legally travel with it all over the country and across state lines.. *as of this writing on domestic flights in the United States, you can travel with CBD oil and other cannabidiol products if the THC content is below 0.3 percent. If the THC is above 0.3 percent it is illegal under federal law
If you’re traveling internationally, however, know that the rules and laws vary quite differently from country to country. Before you pack that bag, check on the laws of whichever foreign country you are traveling to. The laws are constantly changing so best to check just before you travel. With cruise ships, consider contacting the cruise line directly for the most accurate information on what is and isn’t allowed onboard.
Liquid/Gel/Power?Gummy/Vape?
Here are some other helpful tips on traveling with CBD:
- Try the gummy or softgel form CBD products to reduce the number of liquids you are carrying on.
- All liquids must meet the 3.4-ounce limit required by the TSA.
- No battery-powered smoking devices are allowed in checked bags.
- Do not try to hide CBD products while you’re traveling to avoid any delays.
- If traveling internationally and in doubt, just leave your items at home.
Laws in every state and country are constantly changing. It’s up to you to keep up to date on the rules wherever you are traveling to. You can also Download the free myTSA app. It has a handy “What can I bring?” feature that allows you to type in the item to find out if it can fly.
Have a safe and wonderful trip!
