We always want what we don’t have. My friend with short, baby fine hair wishes hers was thick, but hers takes very little time to dry. My long, thick hair takes so long to dry and tame with a flat iron, I sometimes wish I could change places with her and substitute substance, for speed. However, a company called NuMe has come up with a truly remarkable wet/dry flat iron that has me singing a happier tune these days. Their Wet To Dry flat iron has some unique properties that can get me out of the house, faster, with less fuss. For starters, the ceramic plates are BIG, 1.75″ instead of a wimpy 1″. If you have long, thick hair, this instantly cuts styling time. And those Far Infrared 100% solid ceramic plates are created with crushed tourmaline crystals that generate up to 600% more negative ions for quicker and most efficient styling, plus shinier, frizz-free hair. The sleek black, metallic body looks cool, but the iron heats up to 410F. And that’s not all that makes the NuMe Wet/Dry flat iron unique. This dual-voltage iron has holes on the sides to vent steam. If your hair damp (not sopping wet) this iron will actually help to take it all the way to dry. While you’re styling and straightening, the heat of the iron takes the steam created it creates from the water still in your hair, and vents it away. TIP: Since the steam is vented through the plates, make sure to keep the flat iron away from your face if you[‘re using it with very damp hair or you might end up getting injured.
If your hair is thick and it takes a long time to dry it, you know how exhausting it can be to deal with drying, then heat styling. This NuMe flat iron really does help to move things along. It’s not a substitute for a hair dryer, and you can’t use it on really wet hair and get good results, but just at the point where you are getting tired of holding the hair dryer and your hair is damp but not dry, this irons works like a little miracle. All this being said, while the literature claims you can “ditch your dryer,” that’s not really the case. In fact, the information included with the flat iron cautions not to use it on sopping wet hair. Still, if you have thick and hard to dry hair, you won’t have to labor so much longer with a blow dryer and then, the flat iron. In addition, the plates are solid and glide easily through even kinky or curl hair, making it less tiring to use. While the flat iron isn’t inexpensive at $145.00, and I would have liked a temperature control on it (as far as I can tell there’s just the on/off switch), it does a great job. My dear friend with short, baby fine hair doesn’t need this powerful flat iron, but I am in love with it! You can get yours (and plenty of other hair-centric goodies) at www.numestyle.com
