Good makeup is easy to find, but “finds” in makeup need to be shared.
One brand that has impressed me with high quality, high performance makeup, is Senna Cosmetics. In fact, last year, one of my favorite picks for the holiday season was a sensational, face-in-a-case kit by Senna Cosmetics.
If you are not familiar with Senna Cosmetics, the brand was created by Eugenia Weston, a makeup artist who learned the craft of film makeup from Disney Studio makeup stalwarts Robert Schiffer and Bob Mills. She has worked on major entertainment videos for Michael Jackson, Bette Midler and Lisa Marie Presley. The veteran knows how to put colors together, and produce makeup that not only looks good, but works well.
Senna’s Beauty in Bloom collection offers a wide range of colors from soft to deep and intense. For lips, my new, favorite, must-have is Senna Cosmetic’s Lip Sync ($24.00). This is a multi-tasking lipstick/lipgloss combo in one that gives you a a longwear delicious biscotti flavored (“moistly matte”) moisturizing lipstick on one end, and a super-shimmery, over-the-top, gloriously shiny lipgloss on the other. Wear them together, or separately, without fumbling in your bag! Lip Sync also has Senna Cosmetic’s collagen stimulating Maxi-Lip® and it’s Paraben-free. It also gives you lip-loving ingredients including moisturizing shea butter and sweet almond oil, plus antioxidant, green tea, and vitamins, so your lips will look even better over time!
I tried Pink Mink: the Lipstick is a medium clear, pink cream, and the Gloss is a shiny, gold flecked pink. While the lipstick is very natural, a coat of the gloss makes lips “Real Housewives” shiny and plump.
Other colors include:
Stunning: Lipstick – Glowing earthy coral/ Gloss – Golden sparkling
Firefly: Lipstick – Soft gold pink/ Gloss – Shimmering nude
A La Mode: Lipstick – Glowing soft rose peach/Gloss – Sparkling peach
Paris Pink: Lipstick – True rose cream/Gloss – Soft pink
Another Multi-Tasker from Senna Cosmetics is Light Tricks ($22.00). This dual-ended swivel up pencil gives you two different tips (wide and thin) with two different Textures and two shades, to accent your eyes (or wherever else you need a little “light.”). The thinline pencil is a creamy, matte vanilla that makeup artists use to line the inside of the lower eyelid and dot into the inner corner of the eyes, to make them look wide and awake. I learned this tip from makeup artist Sonia Kashuk at a master makeup class. The other side is a pearly, champagne-colored cream that can be used on lids, or as a highlight on the brow arch. The Vitamin E enriched formula is smudgeproof, waterproof and even though it’s a cream, it lasts. The no-sharpen pencils mean one less thing to lug in your makeup bag.
There are so many other, excellent products for eyes, lips and cheeks, from Senna Cosmetics. Discerning makeup lovers must go to see what else is new, and nifty.
