The word “Chi” in Chinese philosophy is the circulating life energy that in thought to be inherent in all things and in traditional Chinese medicine CHI is the balance of negative and positive in the body which is essential for good health.
To beauty editors however, the word CHI is more likely synonymous with high quality, high performance heat styling hair tools. And a new Ultra Chi Flat Iron literally saved me (well, my hair, at least, in Paris recently).
The Spring/Summer 2015 collection of Ultra CHI Flat Irons not only look beautiful and cheerful, one of these flat irons that straightens, curls, flips and styles actually saved my style when I was on vacation in Paris last month. Although I own a lot of flat irons and styling tools, only this new Ultra CHI flat iron was dual voltage, meaning I could use it safely in Europe. And these even come with tote bags in coordinating colors. Normally, I just live in dread of dealing with frizz when I travel because my regular flat irons are 110 volts only. Right before I planned to pack, I received one of the Chi Ultra Flat Irons to review, and took it with me because of the dual voltage. All trip my hair looked smooth and shiny, with a minimum of frizz.
I selected the Striped Medley with a matching turquoise tote bag (great for a small carry on bag and for bringing back souvenirs. This Ultra CHI 1” Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron also comes in Blossom Burst, Glistening Peony, Shimmering Sunrise, Glistening Sky and Paisley Appeal (check out the top photo on this page). With an adapter plug, I was not only able to deal with frizz in France, I’ve found that this particular, ergonomically-designed iron with curved sides was so versatile I was able to wave and flip my hair, with the need of an additional styling tool. It’s got all the bells and whistles you’d expect from CHI including 1” tourmaline ceramic plates; power switch and indicator light, flash heating (in 30 seconds); a swivel cord, and it heats up to Heats up to 200°C/392°F. The only downside is that the heat is not adjustable, it is so effective that I didn’t have to make too many passes with the iron (which means a lot less potential for damage).
It’s fair to say that my new Ultra Chi Flat Iron waved the day on my last trip and it’s going to be in my luggage on every trip from now . But the Ultra Chi flat iron is just as great at home and makes a cheerful statement on my dressing table, too.
All these new Ultra Chi flat iron designs are available at Ulta Stores and Ulta.com in six gorgeous patterns and retail for $149.95 each. *now on sale for $89.95 . They’d make a perfect mother’s day gift. Grab them while you can (one for you, one for Mom) and make the rest of your Spring, Summer and beyond, beautiful!
