Victoria Watts created VictoriaLand Beauty (VLB). a skincare line formulated with naturally active, non-toxic ingredients that are hand blended in her kitchen. Her mission? To empower women with skin that looks and feels good enough to Go Naked (in other words, without any makeup).
Showcased at the IndieBeautyExpo, the idea behind the brand is to offer consumers a trio of multitasking, Skin-Loving treatments made with what Victorialand calls: ” some of natures’ most powerful performers and age-defiers, known to drive performance and leave skin primed and good to go with or without makeup.”
One of Victoria’s children is visually impaired, so Victorialand Beauty also gives back 2% of sales to Dream, Dare, Deliver ⎯ the campaign for Boston’s Children’s Hospital helping visually impaired and blind children.
The brand is cruelty-free and has plenty of natural ingredients including plant, fruit, and nut essential oils and active botanical extracts, so skin is primed and ready to #GoNaked. Furthermore, the products are free of commonly used harmful ingredients including parabens, mineral oil, lanolin, artificial colors, and fragrances.
I received the Skin Loving Mini Set ($55) that is good for travel, and also gives you a chance to try the line before you plunk down extra dollars for the full sizes.
The Eye and Lip treatment in this line is $55 on its own, the Nourishing Face and Neck Cream is $75 and the Revitalizing Face Oil is $80 so the minis are a good “try me” value.
There is a full description of all the ingredients on the Victorialand website (we like this so you can decide if there’s anything in the list that bothers you). Here are the basics (as described on the website):
Skin-Loving Elixir Revitalizing Face Oil: Face oils are so trendy.
If you’re a fan, you’ll enjoy a strong floral scent and what Victorialand calls “a multi-tasking “force of nature” to help smooth wrinkles and hyperpigmentation (brown spots) while minimizing the effects of environmental stressors, also increasing skin density and firmness.
Revinage®
It’s a Retinoid-like natural extract. I can’t really verify whether or not this does what it claims, but as a less irritating retinoid substitute, this might be a good bet as long as the fragrance doesn’t bother you.
Gatuline® In-Tense
This revitalizing extract comes from the rather strange looking spilanthes acmella flower. It’s a natural botanical that contains a high amount of skin-stimulating molecules. to smooth, firm, and brighten.
Rosehip Seed Oil
A time-tested “healer” that moisturizes and helps with hyperpigmentation for an overall improvement in skin tone and texture
Skin-Loving Treatment for Eyes and Lips: The cream feels luxurious and rich but absorbs quickly. I could feel a bit of a tingle around my eyes and lips upon application and several hours later could see significant de-puffing in my eye area.
This would be a wonderful SOS for dry and/or compromised skin and lips.
Meadowfoam Seed Oil (MSO)
Forms a barrier to lock in moisture and deliver nutrients deep into the epidermis.
A blend of anti-oxidants and easily absorbable fatty acids helps to increase skin elasticity while balancing the skin’s oils to provide hydration. This helps moisturize without that greasy or heavy feeling.
Organic Evening Primrose Oil (EPO)
Organic Evening Primrose oil is rich in essential fatty acids, This natural ingredient helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and increase elasticity for firmer, smoother-looking skin.
Tri-Peptide Complex
Matrixyl® 3000 has been proven to promote wrinkle smoothing and improve skin tone and elasticity.
Some say that Argireline is a topical alternative to Botox based on its unique ability to prevent the development of skin wrinkling.
Eyeseryl® has been proven to reduce under-eye puffiness and dark circles while enhancing skin elasticity and smoothness.
Skin-Loving Moisturizer: The cream feels luxurious and rich as with the eye and lip cream.
I noticed an immediate result in how my dry skin looked and felt. In the mini set there isn’t an applicator but I used a Q-tip to test it.
Rosehip Seed Oil (RSO)
A naturally rich source of essential fatty acids that helps to regenerate skin cells and repair damaged skin tissue.
his time-tested “healer” is also known to moisturize and reduce hyperpigmentation for an overall improvement in tone and texture that leaves skin with a healthy, natural glow.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
Hyaluronic Acid is known to naturally reduce the signs of aging due to powerful moisture-binding properties.
Meadowfoam Seed Oil (MSO)
Meadowfoam seed oil forms a barrier to lock in moisture and deliver nutrients deep into the epidermis.
A blend of anti-oxidants and easily absorbable fatty acids helps to increase skin elasticity while balancing the skin’s oils to provide hydration. This helps moisturize without that greasy or heavy feeling.
The Bottom Line:
Will you really feel like going without your makeup after using these products?
There doesn’t seem to be any true clinical testing offered on the site (that part is weak.
According to the Victorialand “Dare to Go Naked Challenge” 81% of people tested said the Skin-Loving Moisturizer left their skin looking & feeling good enough to Go Naked!
Perhaps it could make your skin so improved you might need less makeup or none, but that would be entirely up to you.
My personal opinion is that like all skincare, you need to choose the right products for your skin condition, use them properly and regularly, and be patient. For those who insist upon natural ingredients, Victorialand provides a 3-step skincare routine that makes life a lot easier.
