March 21st is National Fragrance Day – Celebrate with something “Juicy” (we like Viva la Juicy Rosé)
March 21st is National Fragrance Day. Pop upon a bottle of something “juicy”to celebrate. No, we don’t actually mean wine or champagne. There’s no better way to celebrate National Fragrance day than with a sparkling rose fragrance steeped in girly glamour, and glorious rose, like Viva la Juicy Rosé by Juicy Couture.
Viva la Juicy Rosé launched in December, but we think everythings’ coming up roses for this one as the perfect Spring 2016 scent. It’s a romantic rose-centric fragrance that follows the success of Viva La Juicy in 2008, Viva La Juicy Noir (2013) , and Viva La Juicy Gold Couture (2014).
First off, we love the signature Juicy Couture fragrance bottle with it’s classic shape that is always gussied up with accessories. But this time it’s been completely covered in pink and gold ombre glitter (glued on so it’s not going to transfer on you) for Viva la Juicy Rosé . It is also decorated with a rose gold, punk-style safety pin holding a rose gold champagne bottle (filled with tiny pink crystals) tied to a frothy hot pink ribbon around the neck of the bottle. This entire thing is held by an elastic at the neck, so I guess you can pull it off and wear it as a ring, or around a ponytail or a braid if you wanted to show off a bit. Even the outer cardboard box has holographic sparkle on its pink and rose gold ombre surface.
Inside is the fragrance, of course. If you’ve gotten the idea that Viva la Juicy Rosé has a sparkling attitude, you’re right. There is a burst of sparkling notes including Italian mandarin, fresh william pear and jasmine petals (the immediate scent is reminiscent of a gin fizz), but it quickly moves on to reveal the star of the fragrance, a significant heart of Rose centifolia absolute, plus white peony and jasmine sambac. Finally, there’s a sensual side, with bottom notes of Orris absolute, benzoin and ambrox.
Rose scents can be tricky to master, even for a master perfumer. There are so many different types, and not all of them last on skin or smell authentic. While the presentation of the box and flacon are all “pretty party girl,” Viva La Juicy Rose is a light, modern rose that reminds me of the first roses of Spring in my parent’s garden, small and red, but still so fragrant. Viva la Juicy Rosé is not a fruity floral for teens. Yes, it’s youthful, romantic and fun, but this well blended fragrance feels fresh and perfect for the warmer weather to come no matter who wears it. Considering, in some ways, I can even imagine a light spritz of this on a highly evolved man.
Supermodel Candice Swanepoel is definitely the perfect spokesperson for Viva la Juicy Rosé. Young and gorgeous, sparkling and charming, sexy and romantic. She’s the epitome of the youthful “Juicy” Girl — an effervescent fashionista who love Juicy Couture and already knows her own style.
Of course, collectors of perfume bottles will stop at nothing to acquire this in all it’s forms.
