“Makeup should be fun,” opined makeup artist James Boehmer for NARS, as he artfully applied red lipstick to a model’s lips with a brush. “I don’t see anything wrong with a woman mixing colors and wearing 7 different lipsticks at once,” he added.
But for Spring 2013, the focus in makeup is on one part of the face, either lips, or eyes (almost no one is doing a full face –blushes will be lonely next Spring). For Naeem Kahn’s 1940’s “Wallis Simpson” inspired look, James focused on bold berry lips, and brows. Wallis herself would love the look! Advicesisters tip: if you’re going to wear bold lips, apply the outlines and fill in carefully with a lip brush for a precise look, powder the lips, then re-apply for longer wear. You could also skip the lipgloss entirely, or add just a touch in the middle of the lip for a pouty effect.
On the face, James used a new product from NARS: Light Reflecting Setting Powder that made the face matte by not overly dry. Can’t wait to try this one when it arrives early next year.
You can approximate this elegant look too with NARS products.
