Some of you may wonder why I haven’t written much on this blog since Fashion Week, or why it doesn’t appear (anymore) on search engines.
It is simple — my domain name registrar and web service provider, Godaddy.com, simply accused me of something I didn’t do. They charged me for it, and removed my web site and other services I had been loyally paying them for, without warning. To get them back, I had to pay them $199. I did so under protest, as one would pay a kidnapper or a thief a ransome. Of course I protested to my credit card company. THen, Godaddy went a step further. They literally re-posessed my domain name and dumped my web site in the trash–and they didn’t even notify me. Of course, this happened when I was out of town and without computer access. When I realized what Godaddy.com had done, without even notifying me, I once again contacted them. THey told me that they took away my services and my property that I had paid for, because the credit card company had made a chargeback of $50 and now, if I wanted to ever see my web site or have my domain name back again, I had to pay them $249!
Let me get to the bottom line: I did finally realize I had no choice but to give Godaddy.com what they wanted, or I’d never be online again. Godaddy.com took my money quickly, but then they “accidentally” replaced my domain name and web site incorrectly, and this went on for another week.
As far as I can tell, this blog and my web site that I’ve worked on for nearly 14 years, http://www.advicesisters.net, no longer even exist in the search engines. I am devastated.
I think now the site is back, and I’m doing my best to get myself out of Godaddy’s clutches. Until I do, it’s going to take a lot of time that I can’t afford to try and fix some of the damage being offline for so long has done to my stuff.
I have also been busy dealing with some book projects. The Everything Dating Book 2nd Edition which I wrote for Adams Media will be shipped to bookstores in just weeks. For more info and to pre-order the book (and I’ll personally autograph your copy with a personal note if you wish), please visit http://www.advicesisters.net .
If you love fashion, however, you’re going to absolutely love the latest What Works Holiday Beauty, Cosmetics and Fashion review which will be up on the advicesisters.net web site next week (the Fall column is up there now) at http://www.advicesisters.net/whatworkscol3.html THis is a three page web review that, if printed out, would be nearly 44 pages long! It’s an impartial review of holiday glam, gifts and gadgets. Please let me know what you think!
Since Godaddy.com messed up so badly, no one knows advicesisters.net or this blog is out there anymore. Please..spread the word and let others know I’m back!! I’d really appreciate it.

Hi Jan! I am delighted to hear from you! I do remember you.
You may not be aware of it, but my twin sister, partner, and co-author, Advice Sister Jessica, died suddenly, a few years ago. The advicesisters.net web site is huge and better than ever, and I’m continuing our work simply as “Advice Sister Alison” but EVERYONE knows me as “the advicesisters” and not by my real name, so advicesisters, I am! (smile)
DO stay in touch and I’m glad you left a real comment (not the usual people leaving spam hoping to gain advertising off my popularity). Check out http://www.advicesisters.net to see what I’ve been up to!
